Group Soup Meal! - Sept. 17

This Sunday, September 14th, during worship, we are asking members of our congregation to bring forward one ingredient for a vegetarian soup or any kind of bread or crackers to go with the soup. This soup meal will be served at our Group Soup Meal with Monmouth College students and members of the community following the Interfaith Prayer for Peace on Wednesday, September 17 in front of the Intercultural House at 727 E. Broadway.

The Prayer for Peace is at 5:30 p.m. on campus (rain or shine) and the Group Soup Meal is at 6:00 p.m. in the Social Hall at Faith United Presbyterian Church at 200 S. 8th Street. These events are part of the observance of the PCUSA A Season of Peace leading up to World Communion Sunday.
Everyone is invited to both of these events!
What ingredients should I bring?

The Mission Committee will prepare the vegetables and cook the soup on Tuesday evening, the day before, using whatever ingredients we receive. This is kind of like Stone Soup, only without the stone!

Examples include carrots or baby carrots, potatoes (whole or canned cube potatoes), onions, Great Northern Beans, cabbage, celery, canned diced tomatoes, vegetable stock, cans of tomato juice for a base, canned green beans or corn.

We also will need various kinds of breads & crackers to go with the soup.

Since we will be serving the soup to people of various cultures, the plan is for this to be a vegetarian soup, so meatless ingredients only, please.
