The Committee on Ministry is hosting two workshops for you as you move toward the call to a new pastor. Members of your Pastor Nominating Committee and session are welcome. If you have not yet elected a Pastor Nominating Committee, that is no problem. Send session members and they will be able to pass the information along.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance:
2013 Spring Storms
God will cover you with pinions, and under God's wings you will find refuge. -- Psalm 91:4
Together -- we will bridge the GAP (Give/Act/Pray). It is wide but our faith is deep and our strength is endless through Jesus.
Please pray for those who survived the storms and will face hard days ahead, and for those who mourn loved ones lost. Pray also that the response of the church will be an example of the faithful love of God.
If you would like to help with a monetary gift, you may drop your gift in the offering plate at church (please write "Presbyterian Disaster Assistance DR000015" on the memo line of your check), or you may give directly to PDA by mailing your gift to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.

VBS - June 24 - 28
VBS will be held at Faith Church, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon during the week of June 24 through 28. There are registration forms in the Social Hall and on the church office door.
This year's theme will be Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God's World Comes Together. There is no cost for children to participate; however, parents are asked to donate one or two cans of frozen juice for the snack time. There is also an optional CD which features the songs the children will be learning and games for the computer.
On Friday, June 28 the children and teachers will go to the local assisted-living and nursing homes in Monmouth. Permission slips and driving forms are required and are on the reverse side of the Registration Forms.
You can sign up for various roles in the Everywhere Fun Fair, from one-day gigs to the full week. Look for the information in the Social Hall. Tents will be made from white, red, and possibly blue plastic tablecloths, so donations of these would be greatly appreciated.
If you have questions, you may call the church office or contact Ann Phelps, VBS director by phone at (309) 313-2011.

What's in the Church Library?
Have you ever wondered if the church library happens to have the book you want at the moment? Or were just curious to see what's in the collection? Now you can check the church library holdings from HOME on any computer or portable device with internet access.
Mary Lyle and Phyllis Wilson have entered all of the books and materials into a searchable electronic database, and Mark Lyle has created a website which allows you to access this database. How? Just go to http://faithup.makeitmonmouth.com
or simply click this link:
Once you are there, simply go to the Library section of the website.

From the Mission Committee
The Mission Committee has chosen a specific mission to feature each month. For the month of May, the focus is on Jamieson Center. Jamieson Center has now moved to its new home at 1025 South 2nd Street. (See details under "In the Community" about their Open House on June 1st.) Faith Church members Jo Ellen Dollinger, Jill McClintock, and Ron Tenold serve on its board. You can support the Jamieson Center Food Pantry by sharing the bounty from your cupboards or by picking up extra food when grocery shopping. Suggestions for non-perishable food are canned vegetables and fruits, tuna or canned chicken, Tuna/Chicken/Hamburger Helper, peanut butter and jelly, pancake mix and syrup, macaroni & cheese, soups, beef stew, powdered milk, cereal, granola bars, and crackers. Cash donations and items for the thrift shop are always welcome. Our church usually helps deliver Meals on Wheels during the month of August, and volunteers from our church are most welcome. This is a very gratifying way to reach out to individuals in our community. There will be a red ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Jamieson Center's new building TODAY, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. You are invited to attend this event, as well as the Open House on Saturday, June 1st.

Aquarium Caretaker Needed
Our church (and our fish!) need an aquatic-minded person who has the expertise to lovingly clean and tend the fish tank in the church office, OR to teach Vicki how to do it. New filters have been purchased which can keep the tank cleaner longer, once we can figure out how to install them. We still have two live fish and a lot of algae accumulating in the tank. Please call the church office, if you are interested in being a fish tank mentor.

Card of Thanks
Thanks to the members of Faith Presbyterian Church and the wonderful cards sent to Irv Lipp, while in Sloan Kettering. They were very much appreciated. After 25 days in the hospital Irv returned to his home in Westhampton, New York, with no visible signs of leukemia in his bone marrow. This ends phase one. There will be more chemo and perhaps a stem cell transplant, but that is in the future. For now he is without leukemia and gaining strength. Thank you for your love and support. God in his wisdom is protecting Irv. G. Irvin Lipp

A thank you note was received from the Stacy Cordery thanking the session for allowing Carolyn Suda's cello studio to hold their recital in our church when they found themselves caught in a pinch.
