College Care Packages
A total of ten care packages were delivered to appreciative Monmouth College students who will enjoy snacks, fruit, and baked goods, along with a tote bag, as they take their semester final exams. Thanks to everyone for their generous support of our Family of Faith MC students. It's a very tangible way to show that we care and support them!

A Big Thank You
PW would like to thank everyone who helped with the rummage sale, including those who donated items, those who picked up items, those who sorted and priced, those who worked as cashiers, and those who were responsible for clean-up and taking unsold items to a charity. The total raised for PW missions was $805 -- not bad, considering the rainy Friday we had!
Also, a reminder that the PW Annual Meeting & Salad Supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20th in the Social Hall of Faith Church.

Pentecost Offering
On Sunday, May 19 we will be taking the Pentecost Offering. The causes supported by the Offering are the creation of opportunities for our most precious resources, our children, youth, and young adults.
This year, nearly 5,000 youth will come together at Purdue University for the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, an event fostering the development of a lifelong relationship with Christ and the Presby- terian Church (U.S.A.).
This year marks the expansion of the Young Adult Volunteer program, which enables young adults to experience firsthand the work of a missional church while providing a critical experience (both education and spiritual) in the process. You may recall that Anni Krummel, who served as our guest preacher on April 21, traveled to Mombasa, Kenya, as part of the Young Adult Volunteer program in 2006.
In addition, 40 percent of the gifts to the Pentecost Offering stay with congregations for their youth programming. Last year our congregation collected $237. Let's see if we can surpass this goal this year.

Update on One of Our Irish Students
Katie Murphy was a one-year Irish student at Monmouth College last year who helped with Wednesday Night Live, plus other children's activities, and she also attended Sunday services at Faith regularly.
She was an excellent student and participated in theater activities at MC. In a recent email she indicated that she is graduating from law school this month.
Katie already had college training in Ireland before she came here. If she wants to practice as a barrister in the court room, she has to take another year, which she may or may not do, depending on other developments.
Along with graduating from law school, Katie's other achievement is that she has been selected to attend the prestigious International School of Screen Acting in London.
We were blessed to have her here in the United States and as a part of the Faith family.

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for all the birthday cards! I received a few the day before and some after my birthday. But, on my actual 50th birthday, I amazingly received 50 cards! What a wonderful surprise to hear from all of you. I had a great day, largely because of your thoughtfulness.
Thank You!

Promise Walk Benefit
Did you know that preeclampsia and related hypertensive disorders of gestation affect 1 in every 12 pregnancies?

Saturday, May 11th, there will be a "Promise Walk" for Preeclampsia Awareness in Davenport, Iowa. The event is at 9 a.m., with registration at 8 a.m. There are a couple of ways to participate, even if you have plans already for that day. If the weather and Lindsay's schedule cooperate, she WILL be there, so she would love to see as many of you there as possible! Jake Murdock has posted a link that will allow you to either register to walk that day, or donate to the "Thumbs Up For Lindsay" team, if you would like to participate in that way.
1. Register for our team, "Thumbs Up For Lindsay." Registration is $20 per person, and you receive a t-shirt!
2. Donate ANY amount to the team "Thumbs Up for Lindsay." All proceeds will go to The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia, the condition that Lindsay had which triggered her complications after childbirth.
To follow Lindsay's progress on CaringBridge.org, Jake has made it easier to access the site by eliminating the site password requirement, so that now all you need to do is to create your own username and password at www.caringbridge.org/visit/lindsaymurdock. You can set up your account to get notifications about new Journal postings either by email or by text. There is an adorable photo of 10-1/2-month-old Easton, and boy, does he have the curls! Plus, Jake has a brand-new post (April 30), giving a run-down on Lindsay's progress in a number of areas. She's doing remarkably well.
