Isabel Circle

Those planning to attend should meet at 6:30 p.m. on April 25th to carpool to Janice's home in Galesburg.

Janice Cunningham will serve as facilitator for Lesson Six, "The Elders" from the 2012-2013 Horizons Bible Study, Dispatches to God's Household: The General Epistles. The Scripture for this lesson is 1Peter 5:1-11 and 2 John.

As the study of what it means to be a member of God's family and God's house-hold, Lesson Six focuses on the role and responsibilities of church elders.

Becoming the household of God doesn't just happen. Elders know a thing or two about life in God's household.  Because they have experience and training to be called to leadership roles in the community of faith, they are charged to demonstrate selfless love and a nurturing spirit to others in their care.  Following the path of right relationship, 1 Peter points to an overturned hierarchy and rethinking relationships between the powerful and the powerless.  Loving one another is the to key to right relationships with God and our Sisters and Brothers in Christ.
