Thank You
It's hard to know where to begin. Bill, Elizabeth, Will and I are so very grateful for having been a part of the Family of Faith. As we have said, there couldn't have been anywhere better to be a family, raise our children and worship God than with all of you. Sunday, January 27 was a very emotional day. We know many could not be with us because of the weather; we understand and we missed you. We loved worship and Barb's special music (Bill's favorites). Then there was the party!!! When we saw that Beak'n the Pelican had flown in to say goodbye, well we knew it was a special day! Beak'n and Bill have a special relationship and quick banter - thanks for sending for him. The "snow painting" was much appreciated (it's supposed to snow 18 inches or so this week in Traverse City). The REAL painting of the church is so beautiful and will bring many great memories back to us when we gaze upon it. Finally, the monetary gift is greatly appreciated. We will buy something that will last and last so that we can always say it was from you. We want to send a special thank you to the Godspeed Committee and to Amy DeVitalis for the gorgeous cake. We will keep all of our family at Faith in our prayers always because you are family.
Love,
Margie, Bill, Elizabeth and Will Myers

Faith & Life - Poetry of Faith
For the month of February, Rob Hale will lead the Faith and Life Sunday School Class on the subject of faith and poetry. Each week, we will examine a different poet and see how he or she approaches issues of faith. Rob will give an overview of each poet's life, read poems aloud, and lead a discussion of each poem. No special knowledge of poetry is required. The poet for February 10 will be Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Stay tuned for the list of subsequent poets. This class will meet in the church library.

Annual Valentine Luncheon
Isabel Circle cordially invites you to attend our annual Valentine's soup & sandwich luncheon Sunday,
February 10, immediately following the service. Please sign up on the church office door or call Vicki in the church office (734-5129) to help us gauge how much to make. Everyone is invited to come to the Social Hall immediately following worship to enjoy hot soup, sandwiches, and cake. Everything will be provided. We will finish with Marjorie Butler at the keyboard playing some classic old hits and lyrics will be provided so we can all sing along. Free-will donations will be taken, with the net proceeds going to Kandithankulam. See you there!

The 38th Annual Lenten Lay Breakfast Series will begin on Friday, February 15 and will continue through Good Friday, March 29. Strom Center will again host the breakfasts. Rolls and/or toast, juice, and coffee are available at 6:30 a.m., with the services starting at approximately 7:15 a.m. and ending around 7:45 a.m. There is no set charge for the meal, but a free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses. The series is sponsored each year by the Warren County Ministerial Association. The participating church schedule is still being finalized, but we should have it soon. |
February Mission Focus is on Kandithankulam
Recently we received correspondence from Raj and Saro Ambrose concerning the ongoing mission in India. Faith Church and many members have been generous contributors to this mission for over 20 years, and due to the broadening gap between the haves and have-nots in India, there is still a great need for aid. Please thoughtfully consider a contribution to this mission of Faith Church.
Thank you.

Ash Wednesday Service at the College
This year Faith Church will be partnering with Monmouth College in an Ash Wednesday Service on February 13, 2013 at 8 p.m. at the Dahl Auditorium on campus. Since Ash Wednesday is early this year and we do not yet have an interim pastor, we will not have an Ash Wednesday Service at our church, but you are certainly encouraged to attend the one at the college.

Lenten Devotionals
Lenten devotionals are now available for both adults and children. For kids (of any age) we have a one-page calendar with activities and things to think about every day until Easter. The adult devotional is "Called to Life, Called to Love" and are reflections taken from the writings of Henri J. M. Nouwen. Copies will be in the Narthex and on the table outside the office. For e-book readers: This devotional is not available as an e-book but several recommended ones are available for both Kindle and Nook: Followers of the Cross by Martin E. Marty; Who Do You Say I Am? by Mark Neilsen; Imitators of Christ by Mark Zimmermann; and Countdown to Easter by Ruth Geisler.

A Big Thank You
As you direct your attention to the chancel area, you may notice that something is different. The beautiful and functional side railings along the steps are the work of Bob Wells. They not only provide added safety to persons using the steps while wearing long robes, they also open up the chancel visually in an inviting and graceful way. Be sure to thank Bob for his dedicated work when you see him.
