Greetings!
Greetings from RV Outlet Mall!
Spring is just around the corner, and that's my favorite time of the year to use my RV. Perfect temperatures-not hot, not cold, just right. Cool enough at night to sit by a campfire & roast marshmallows, making memories with the family.
RV Outlet Mall is a member of the largest network of RV dealers in North America, Route 66. For years this has given you the best in customer service no matter where you are traveling. At 170 locations across North America, you have been treated as if you bought your RV from that location.
Now Route 66 has enhanced their program to extend their services. In addition to this great customer service at locations across North America, with every RV purchased at RV Outlet Mall you will receive discounts on every night you camp at a KOA Campground and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.

Featured Article - DRIVE TEXAS - Online Highway Information Map |
DRIVE TEXAS - An All-New Online Highway Information MapIn an effort to give travelers easier access to pertinent road condition reports, the Texas Department of Transportation has launched DRIVE TEXAS, a new mobile friendly Highway Conditions map. Launched June 20th, Drive Texas, at www.drivetexas.org, displays statewide conditions affecting travel, including construction, closures, accidents and live weather feeds to give drivers the tools they need to check travel conditions before they hit the road. The mobile-friendly site also allows travelers to find a nearby Safety Rest Area or Texas Travel Information Center. In Select Cities, they also can view traffic camera images, messages posted on dynamic message signs and more detailed information for the traveling public. Drive Texas offers a more modern, robust, user-friendly interface that inputs information right at users' fingertips in an easy-to-find format. The application also may be accessed by clicking on the "Highway Conditions" link on the www.txdot.gov home page.

Simple Dessert Recipe: Sugar Cookie Bunnies |
Here's a tasty dessert recipe if you want a treat this Easter! It's very simple to make and has few ingredients (so you don't have to fill up your RV!). Check here next month for another great recipe. Bon appetite!

Sugar Cookie Bunnies
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions: - Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together into a bowl. Beat butter and sugar with a mixer on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low. With machine running, gradually add flour mixture; mix until combined. Shape into a disk, and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate until firm, at least 45 minutes (or up to 3 days).
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface. Roll to 1/8 inch thick. Using a 5-inch-tall bunny-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies. Space 2 inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Reroll scraps, and cut out. Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.
- Bake until golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool completely on sheets on wire racks. Cookies can be stored in airtight containers at room temperature up to 1 week.
Cook's Note: - Yields approximately 1 dozen cookies

RV TERMS:
120AC 12DC, Converter, and Dual Electrical System
|
120AC 12DC: The power sources on which RV refrigerators operate. 120 AC means 120-volt alternating current (same as in houses); 12 DC means 12-volt direct current (same as in automobiles). Some RV appliances can operate on either electricity source and/or propane gas. Converter: A device that converts 120 volt A/C (alternating current) to 12 volt DC (direct current). RV devices mostly run on 12 volt DC power that is supplied by the battery, which allows the RV to function independently. When "shore power" (an electrical supply) is available, the converter changes the voltage from 120 to 12 volt to supply the appliances and to recharge the battery. Dual Electrical System: RV equipped with lights, appliances which operate on 12-volt battery power when self-contained, and with a converter, on 110 AC current when in campgrounds or with an onboard generator.

TECH TIP: Your RV's Converter
|
About your RV's converter and how to make sure it's operating correctly
The converter in your travel trailer is one of the most essential pieces of equipment in your RV. Your converter converts 110 volt electrical current to 12 volts to run the low voltage (12v) lights and appliances in your RV. It also keeps the battery charged when you are plugged into shore power. They do go bad from time to time. To check if your converter is operating correctly just go to the panel in your rig where you check water tank levels. Turn on the water pump and (usually) the electric water heater. Push the button or switch labeled "Battery" when the rig is plugged into 110 volt "shore power". Indicator lights will illuminate showing you the state of charge on your battery. It should read 100% charged. If not then your converter is bad or going bad. This will result in a dead battery which affects 12v lights as well as the refrigerator and wall thermostat which will compromise the heating and air conditioning. Checking your RV prior to going out for the first time after Winter is very important to you enjoying your first trip. The converter is like the heart of your RV, so be sure it's working correctly so everything will go according to plan!
