INTROGreetings!

Greetings from RV Outlet Mall!

It's that time of the year again!  Time for our first RV show to kick off a new year of memories with our families in our RV.

I always anxiously await the first show of the year to show off all the new products our manufacturers have worked so hard to offer you. They strive to always come up with new features or new floor plans to get you to purchase their product over their competition. The manufacturers competition just continues to improve the selection we all have to pick the perfect RV for us to find our away place.

The dates of the Austin RV Show are Feb. 21-24 at the Austin Convention Center. If you are one of those who prefer not to drive into downtown Austin, we offer you the same great show prices right here on our lot in Georgetown. EVERY UNIT HAS THE SHOW PRICE POSTED IN THEM!  We are limited to the number of units we can display at the convention center, so naturally we have a much larger inventory at our lot for you to select from.

If you are thinking of trading in your RV, we are currently in need of used RV's! Your trade is worth more today than it has ever been. That being the case, now is the perfect time for you to upgrade to a new RV.

We look forward to seeing you this month, whether it is at the show or at our location in Georgetown!

DRIVE TEXAS - An All-New Online Highway Information Map

In an effort to give travelers easier access to pertinent road condition reports, the Texas Department of Transportation has launched DRIVE TEXAS, a new mobile friendly Highway Conditions map. Launched June 20th, Drive Texas, at www.drivetexas.org, displays statewide conditions affecting travel, including construction, closures, accidents and live weather feeds to give drivers the tools they need to check travel conditions before they hit the road.

The mobile-friendly site also allows travelers to find a nearby Safety Rest Area or Texas Travel Information Center. In Select Cities, they also can view traffic camera images, messages posted on dynamic message signs and more detailed information for the traveling public. Drive Texas offers a more modern, robust, user-friendly interface that inputs information right at users' fingertips in an easy-to-find format. The application also may be accessed by clicking on the "Highway Conditions" link on the www.txdot.gov home page.

RecipeArticleSimple Dessert Recipe: Frozen Peanut Butter, Chocolate, and Banana Loaf
Here's a tasty dessert recipe if you want a treat! It's very simple to make and has few ingredients (so you don't have to fill up your RV!). Check here next month for another great recipe. Bon appetite!

Frozen Peanut Butter, Chocolate, and Banana Loaf

  • Prep Time 40 minutes
  • Total Time 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield Serves 16

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks (about 2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted peanuts, chopped
  • Nonstick cooking spray and waxed paper, for loaf pan
Directions:
  1. Coat an 8 1/2-by-4 1/2-inch loaf pan with cooking spray; line with waxed paper, leaving overhang on both long sides. Set aside.
  2. Melt chocolate; cool to room temperature. Meanwhile, in a food processor, puree bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir peanut butter into cooled chocolate until combined, then stir in banana puree. Gently fold in whipped cream until combined. Pour into prepared pan; top with peanuts. Fold waxed paper over top; wrap tightly in plastic. Freeze until firm, at least 3 hours.
  4. To serve: Remove loaf from pan (run a hot towel across sides and bottom of pan, if necessary). Slice about 1/2 inch thick, as needed.

Cook's Note:

  • Rewrap remaining (unsliced) loaf, and freeze up to 1 month.

FeaturedPartFeatured Part - SunShades by Carefree

Black SunShades by Carefree

"Carefree SunShades block the sun, keep it cool inside and let you keep your view."

Shield your RV's back window for better cooling efficiency. SunShades are the perfect solution for RVs that have a rear bedroom window that won't take a window awning because the ladder or other obstructions block the awning arms.

Rolls up for sun and down for shade. Unlike window awnings, it shades and covers 100% of the glass on your window, so your RV stays cooler no matter what angle the sun is at.

Available in black FullView fabric with black castings and in half-foot increments from 3' to 6'.

Regular $110.00

RVtermsRV TERMS:
Wet Weight, Unloaded Vehicle Weight or Dry Weight, and Underbelly

Wet Weight:
The weight of the vehicle with the fuel, freshwater and propane tanks full.

Unloaded Vehicle Weight or Dry Weight: The weight of the RV without adding fuel, water, propane, supplies and passengers. The manufacturers UVW will not include any dealer-installed options.

Underbelly: An RV's underfloor surface, which is protected by a weatherproofed material.

TechTipTECH TIP: How to Clean a Travel Trailer

How to Clean a Travel Trailer

Cleaning the Roof
  1. Start cleaning from the highest point on the roof. This could be the air conditioner, roof vent, or sky dome. With a bleach-based cleaner or a black spot remover ,wipe down the area with a rag, mop or sponge.
  2. Carefully continue using the cleaner to clean the entire travel trailer roof. According to RV Basics, "Black streaks down the sides of your rig are caused by run-off from the dirt, bird droppings, fallen leaves, and other stuff that decays and is washed off the roof of your RV during light rains and heavy dew. Regular cleaning of your roof, especially just before the rainy season starts, will go a long way toward eliminating the cause of black streaks."
  3. Ensure that you do not gouge or disturb any flashing or protected barrier that seals off leaks. Your goal is to remove as much of the mold and debris as possible to slow down the spread of the mold and keep the roof clean.
Cleaning the Exterior
  1. Hose the outside of the trailer down with a garden hose, on a cloudy day or in the shade, to get the first layer of dirt off. Select a cleaner made specifically to clean the travel trailer and follow the directions to apply the cleaner to remove black streaks.
  2. Use a window cleaner to wipe off the outside of the windows. For bugs and bird droppings on the windows or siding, saturate the area with spray cooking oil and wash off after 10 minutes.
  3. Apply a coat of wax, preferably by hand, to protect the trailer.
