Featured Article - DRIVE TEXAS - Online Highway Information Map |
DRIVE TEXAS - An All-New Online Highway Information MapIn an effort to give travelers easier access to pertinent road condition reports, the Texas Department of Transportation has launched DRIVE TEXAS, a new mobile friendly Highway Conditions map. Launched June 20th, Drive Texas, at www.drivetexas.org, displays statewide conditions affecting travel, including construction, closures, accidents and live weather feeds to give drivers the tools they need to check travel conditions before they hit the road. The mobile-friendly site also allows travelers to find a nearby Safety Rest Area or Texas Travel Information Center. In Select Cities, they also can view traffic camera images, messages posted on dynamic message signs and more detailed information for the traveling public. Drive Texas offers a more modern, robust, user-friendly interface that inputs information right at users' fingertips in an easy-to-find format. The application also may be accessed by clicking on the "Highway Conditions" link on the www.txdot.gov home page.

RECIPE: Fire Cracker Bites |
Here's a tasty dessert recipe if you want a treat this fall! It's very simple to make and has few ingredients (so you don't have to fill up your RV!). Check here next month for another great recipe. Bon appetite!
Fire Cracker Bites
- 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
|
- 1 - 0.4 ounce envelope ranch dressing mix
- 2 - 9 ounce bags of oyster crackers
| Mix oil, pepper, ranch mix into a bowl. Stir well and set aside. Put oyster crackers in a gallon zip bag or a plastic airtight-seal container. Stir mixture one more time and then pour into bag/container. Seal bag/container, turn gently every 10-15 minutes until the liquid is all soaked up. Takes about an hour. Serve alone or with a snack dip. Store in airtight container.Recipe is Courtesy of Williamson County Youth Fair

Featured Units: A Sneak Peak at Exciting New RVs
|
We usually select a particular brand of RV, or a particular model of RV to feature each month. However, this month it was to difficult to zero in on a particular brand, since we have received so many awesome new units in the last 30 days.
We attended the annual RV Manufacturers Show in Indiana in September. This show is when all the manufacturers exhibit their new products and new floor plans for next year. We placed orders in September and we have been receiving these new RV's for the last month.
Normally, the public would not even get a chance to see these until after the first of the year. We now have them on our lot available to purchase. This gives you a selection of everything new for next year, now! Hurry out for a preview!

RV TERMS: Brake Controller, Castor, Umbilical Cord | Brake Controller: A device mounted under the dash of a towing vehicle to control the braking system of the trailer. Castor (Wheel alignment): A steering wheel's tendency to return to dead center after the driver turns a corner. Umbilical Cord: The wiring harness that connects the tow vehicle to the trailer, supplying electricity to the trailer's clearance and brake lights, electric brakes and a 12-volt DC power line (to charge the trailer's batteries). |
TECH TIP: Maintaining Your Winegard Sensar Antenna
|
Instructions for Maintaining your Winegard Sensar AntennaThe Winegard Sensar or "Batwing" antenna requires very little care throughout its life, however 3-4 times each year it is strongly recommended that the unit receive some maintenance. By raising the antenna and spraying the gears with a Silicon Spray Lubricant you can increase the life and the enjoyment of the Sensar. This "bath" helps in two ways. First by cleaning the dirt and debris from the gears the unit will be easier to operate, making raising the unit much less taxing. Secondly, this lubricates the seal that prevents water from flowing into the coach. Without this lubrication, the seal will eventually get brittle and crack. Properly lubricated, this seal should last for the life of unit. Information is from the Wineguard Website
