ESU deplores intentions to raise tuition fees in Bulgaria

SOFIA - Thousands of students take to the streets in Bulgaria to protest worsening living conditions, as many universities plan to increase their tuition fees by 8 to 33 per cent. Students' demands to be fully recognised as partners have also been ignored, as students´ representation within governing bodies of higher education institutions is still limited. Enhancing students' representation in Belarus: Reflections from Lithuania

VILNIUS - A new Belarus Student Representatives Exchange Scheme will be launched this spring, aiming at major topics related to student representation in the region and beyond such as the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), Student Participation in the Higher Education Governance, Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Enhancement of the Academic Integrity. This Exchange Scheme will provide students' representatives with the skills and know-how on how to advocate students´ interests efficiently. MEPs listen to students' worries about a loan scheme 

BRUSSELS - Mrs. Isabelle Thomas, Member of the European Parliament (S&D), understands the concerns that European students have regarding the introduction of a European Loan Guarantee Facility. She thinks it might be a slippery slope for the European Union, as it might change the perception of the Erasmus programme and make it possible to gradually replace scholarships with loans. The social system for Danish students is in jeopardy

COPENHAGEN - Social mobility might be reduced and fewer students would complete their studies if proposed changes to the financial support system for students in Denmark will be adopted. These reforms introduced by Morten Østergaard, the Danish Minister for Higher Education, would hit those families especially hard that come from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
