Project Kehila: Flashlights for Ecuador
On April 16th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Ecuador, killing more than 600 people, injuring over 6,000, and leaving 29,000 people homeless.
Flashlights are needed for both the homeless and for the workers rebuilding. CRS and RSS, through Project Kehila, responds to natural disasters requiring immediate assistance.
Please donate new flashlights (and batteries if the flashlight doesn't come with batteries) during our short flashlight drive, June 6-9.
The donation box will be in the lobby of 7 West 83rd Street.

Sew and So
Working together with our partner, The Church of St. Matthew and St. Timothy, we create sustainable feminine hygiene kits in conjunction with the organization Days for Girls. Volunteers will be sewing the Days for Girls kit components. We are also knitting for the Shawl Ministry and Seamen's Church Institute. Beginners welcome, as we are happy to teach people how to knit and sew.

Backpack Buddies
Every week during the school year, our Backpack Buddies program provides a weekend backpack full of food to children in our neighborhood who receive free lunch and breakfast during the school week. High Holy Day Machzorim
For the first time in 25 years, CRS will replace our High Holy Day machzorim. As we adopt this new, more inclusive text, we are looking to the members of our congregation to help us finance the substantial cost of our new prayer books.
The machzorim come in a two-volume set with one book for Rosh Hashanah and one for Yom Kippur.
With a donation of $100, a book plate will be placed inside each book of the set and personalized with a special dedication of your choosing.
