June 13, 2013
Greetings!

Things might slow down a bit over the summer at Rodeph Sholom, but don't worry, we won't leave you with nothing to do.  We've got some great programming going on and our office is buzzing as we begin to prepare for the High Holy Days (we know, they aren't until September!).  Enjoy the summer and if you're in the neighborhood, join us for Shabbat, a program, or just drop by to say hello.

Texts of the 7 Weeks

The High Holy Days are coming...will you be ready?

Tuesdays at 7:00PM
July 16th*, 23rd, 30th; August 6th

In the seven weeks between Tisha B'Av (the day on which we commemorate the destruction of the Temples) and Rosh Hashanah, the prophetic readings (Haftarot) guide us towards introspection and self-improvement....just in time for the High Holy Days. This summer, dive into four of these special texts. Our rabbis and cantors will share their own questions and insights, and you'll bring your own.

*The first class will offer musical and textual reflections on the commemoration of Tisha B'Av.

 Holocaust Survivors and Their Families

Monday, August 19th from 6:00PM - 7:30PM

We will be having our second meeting for Holocaust survivors and their families. This meeting will give us another chance to share our stories and get to know each other better within our Rodeph Sholom community in anticipation of the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht.  Ruth F. Kobrin, LMSW and Rabbi Leora Kaye will join Cantor Rebecca Garfein in facilitating this special get together.

We will be holding a very special commemoration of Kristallnacht at Rodeph Sholom on Friday, November 8th during Shabbat services. Please note that this is a new date.
