Nathaniel Morton Elementary News
Students from PSHS recently visited Nathaniel Morton as part of their Tech Road show where NMES students piloted the computer activities that had been designed by the high school students. The NMES students thoroughly enjoyed their role as critics and many wondered how the games were developed.

Six outstanding teachers from NMES were honored this week for their talent and service to the Plymouth Schools. All six announced plans to retire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. Best wishes and warm appreciation to Pat Cameron, Sally Avitabile, Gail McSwiggan, Nancy Rhodes, Kathie Anderson and Ginny McDonald.
Kindergarten students at NMES recently "wowed" the crowd with their Patriotic Show. The students performed songs and poems all in tribute to America. Decked out in red, white and blue their performance was a true inspiration and left everyone with smiles on their faces!

PCIS Girls Lax Working Hard
The PCIS girl's lacrosse team is having a great season with five games remaining. The Lady Falcons roster consists of 19 energetic and hard-working student athletes. The team is led by two eighth graders that serve as captains: Lilly Backlund, and Katie Cronin. Twelve seventh graders Abigail Andreson, Captain Ariana Bremis, Kiley Cheesman, Emma Collins, Captain Sophia Cotone, Caitlin Hanley, Julia Ford, Ashley Larson, Captain Molly Leavitt, Kailey Rivers, Isabel Ward, and Captain Keeley Webster make up the nuclei of the team. The team also has five sixth grade students: Montana Aldridge, Isabella Christensen, Lilly Ciaranca, Grace Stanford, and Meredith Ward. Players that really make a difference on the team include the goalies, Ariana Bremis and Emma Collins. Sophia Cotone, Molly Leavitt, and Keeley Webster are an impactful part of the team offensively, by scoring most of the teams goals. Defensively, Isabella Christensen, Caitlin Hanley, Ashley Larson, and Julia Ford do their best to protect our goal. "Even though we have only been a team for about a month, we are more than a team, we are like sisters. We will always have each others backs no matter what." 7th grade player Abigail Andreson says. The girls lacrosse team has been improving each game and we are led by our coaches, PCIS health and physical education teacher Emily Manion, and English Language Arts teacher Gabriela Landeo. The team is looking forward to their next game on Friday May 17th, at Pembroke.

PCIS Girl's Softball Team is on a Roll!!
The PCIS softball team is on a roll! Currently, the girls are 8-0, and with three games remaining in the season, they seek that undefeated season which has eluded them for five consecutive years (9-1 each season).
But the record isn't the only motivation for the 22 student-athletes that are on this elite travel team. "It's about having fun, good laughs, and experiencing the value interscholastic athletics." explained fourth-year coach Maddie Schwarz, also a senior at PNHS. "We want the girls to be part of something bigger than themselves, to understand teamwork, commitment, work-ethic, and enjoyment." Schwarz continues.
The coaching staff includes PNHS senior Brandon Ferrell, PCIS ELA teacher Drew Sorensen, and PCIS Assistant Principal Andy Scichilone.
Led by the ferocious pitching and hitting of 8th grader Maddie Crowley (5-0), the girl's team has wins against Rising Tide, Wixon, Mattacheese (2), Mashpee (2), and Nauset (2). 8th grade captains Payton Sherman and Alex Conley are two of the seven 8th graders on the team. The future of PCIS softball looks equally as promising with fifteen 7th graders returning next year. These star 7th graders include three solid pitchers in Angela Nadeau, Julia Zaniboni, and Faith Whalen. Rounding out the 2013 PCIS softball roster is: Olivia Petrillo, Erin Bernard, Abbi Whiting, Shannon Burns, Teigen Utera, Ellie Guiliani, Abbey Chase, Jadyn Tavekelian, Caroline DiGravio, Sydney Gorman, Mary O'Hanley, Danielle Loranger, Paige Guerra, Taylor Burns, Olivia Brunstrum.
The girls face their most formidable challenge when they compete against St. Francis on May 31st.
PCIS Takes On Washington DC:
Over 250 eighth grade students and staff from PCIS loaded up the buses early Wednesday morning to make their way down to Washington DC. Students and staff are on a three day trip to our nation's capital. Students arrived in DC on Wednesday around 3:45pm and made their way to visit some of Washington's finest monuments and memorials. On Thursday, students made their way to the White House for a photo op and toured Capital Hill and the surrounding area. Students will have a night monument tour on Thursday evening. On Friday students will make their way to many of the War Memorials in Washington, The National Museum of American History and Arlington National Cemetery before boarding the bus for their trip home. As we follow their journey on Twitter, it seems that the students and staff are enjoying their time and are seeing many of our nations most valued sites. If you are interested in following the tour you can follow on Twitter at PCIStakesonDC or PCISFalcon.

PCIS Holds their Fifth Annual Career Day:
On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 PCIS seventh grade students attended the school's fifth annual Career Day. Over 20 guests came to PCIS to speak with students about their career choice and the different types of schooling they pursued to aid in their career. A Keynote address was delivered to all seventh graders by Rear Admiral Rich Gurnon, President of Mass Maritime Academy. Rear Admiral Gurnon spoke to the students about the need for strong students in our schools and colleges and that we need to work hard to continue to make our dreams come true and to keep our society competitive. He provided our students with the image of all of the different "doors" (options) that students have to pursue and that although our world is very competitive that if they work to pursue their dreams they can succeed. He summed up his talk with the Mass Maritime motto: "Discipline, Knowledge and Leadership" and how to be a leader in this world we must have discipline, and actively pursue knowledge.
Students then rotated through four sessions of guest presentations that they chose to attend. These guests included: a Physical Therapist, Transportation Security Manager from the Department of Homeland Security, Attorneys, Sports Media, Marine Biologist, Music Therapist, Deep Ocean Explorer, Architect, Firefighter, Media Production, Biomedical Research, Environmental Science, Nuclear Engineer, School Counselor, Small Business Owner, FDA Researcher, Professor, Production Assistant and Sideline Reporter for WHDH and a Rear Admiral!
The day was then wrapped up by Mr. Michael Withington who talked to the students about the importance of education in the pursuit of their passion. He also challenged the students to be an active participant in the pursuit of their goals. He noted that there are many people here and in Plymouth that want to help them to pursue their passion but that they have to want to be a part of that pursuit. "Success happens by choice not by chance!" The guest speakers commented about how wonderful it was to be a part of the day and that the students were engaged and had great questions. They all said that they would be happy to return next year.

PCIS Students use new iPad cart in Geography!
The "pilot" project at PCIS rolled out this week with Mr. Palagi's Apollo 7th Grade Geography classes. The students worked in pairs. They selected a country in Asia to research its physical, cultural & economic aspects using the iPads.
