St Pat's Day Parade
Saint Patrick's Day Parade 2016
Are you proud of your college? Do you want to show the community? Enjoy the outdoors?  Then prove it by joining us for the St. Pat's Day Parade Saturday, March 19th.

You are all invited to join us for an afternoon of music and fun in the parade.
We offer bus transportation to and from the parade. Get a gang together and make a party of it.
Snacks before you leave.  The bus will leave at 11:30.

Where? The beautiful St. Lawrence cafeteria.
What is Open Mic? Performers sign up in room 272 (student activities office) and perform during showtime for a maximum of 10 minutes
You can perform anything you want: Songs, monologues, poetry,music...you name it!
Open Mic is like an easygoing coffee shop where students, teachers and staff live out their performance fantasies!
Of course you are all invited to come applaud and encourage your fellow SLC students and staff.

Once again this year, French teacher Suzanne Lemay, will be helping a team of students organize this amazing event here at SLC.  It will be held on Thursday, April 28th at 12:30 in the cafeteria. Everybody is encouraged to either offer their head as a symbol of suport or to donate a few dollars to the cause. Whichever you choose, we thank you all in advance. Don't forget, if all else fails, Joanne Gosselin (room 272) can hook you up with a peer tutor in certain courses. Drop by her office and fill out a tutor request form. Within 24 to 48 hours you will be matched with a peer tutor that you can meet as many times as you want, free of charge. Please be advised that tutoring is offered in a limited amount of subjects.

I am a former SLC student now studying at Laval University. Last summer, I lived in Senegal for two months. I met an incredible family, and I am now trying to help people over there. I am thus collecting cans and bottles. I will bring the money with me this summer, as I am returning to Senegal mid-July 2016. All the profits will be donated to the parent association in Lalane-Diassap, a small village of around 370 people, whose goal is to send children to school.

SLC Reaches Out Program
SLC Reaches Out Are you actively involved in your community? 
Have you demonstrated ingenuity, determination and leadership?  You are successful academically? Would you like to develop your leadership skills?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be a perfect candidate for our SLC Reaches Out Program.  The "Reaches out" program has two goals: 1) to give students (team leaders) training as well as a hands-on opportunity to gain leadership and project management skills and 2) to help raise awareness of the needs of various community programs and to volunteer.
Once completed you have a very convincing portfolio to present to potential university interview panels or employers, and a new take on what community means to you.
 
The program takes place from August to February each year.

This year the Champlain Regional College Foundation will present The Potter Family Award, a $1,000.00 prize, to an eligible student from the St. Lawrence campus at the graduation ceremony on May 27th.  
Created to honour Champlain Regional College for its education mission in memory of former Director of Studies, Arthur G. Potter III, the award is presented to a student from one of the Champlain Regional Colleges, on a rotating basis, each year - this year being Champlain St. Lawrence's turn.

 A $1,000.00 prize is awarded to support a student with an inquiring, innovative mind who is able to synthesize the educational experience at Champlain in a short essay.  You must be a student at Champlain-St-Lawrence with a cumulative grade average of at least 85% and in your last semester to apply.

Deadlines for University Admissions
In Québec, the deadline to apply for the fall semester in a limited admissions program is March 1st (Bishop's deadline is April 1st). After March 1st, you may still apply for "open programs". Check university websites for all program deadlines.


Deadlines for programs and universities outside QC vary (Jan-June). 

An admissions guide is available on the Career Counselling Services' intranet community (link on the right-hand side when you log on to your portal).

The P.W. Sims Award is presented annually at St. Lawrence College to a student with outstanding performance in the Business Administration program (priority will be given to students in the Business Administration program (410.B0). The award includes a scholarship in the amount of $2,000 received upon proof of registration to a university of their choice. Dr. Guthrie Memorial Scholarship
April 15, 2016
This one-year $3,000 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student entering the first year of a university program in health studies. (Dr. of Medicine or Bachelor of Nursing Science). The successful applicant must show financial need and high academic achievement. Fitness
All registered SLC students are members of the fitness centre. You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.

WHEN THE SEMESTER ENDS

The Winter 2016 semester ends on Friday, May 20th. All students are expected to be available until the end of the semester. 
In exceptional circumstances (ie: two exams scheduled at the same time, illness, etc.) students may be permitted to write a special exam.
