Guest Speaker: Volunteering is important to you, but you can't find the time for it? Dr. Bruno Piedboeuf, Neonatologist and Excecutive Vice-Dean for the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval, has stayed involved in the community despite his many professional and personal occupations. He will be sharing his secrets with St. Lawrence students on Thursday, March 10th, room 347. You don't want to miss this!

SLC Annual Summer Job Fair on Thursday, March 10th, hosted by our Entrepreneurship Club. Various potential employers will be on campus to recruit for their summer job openings.  Between 11:00 and 14:00 in the cafeteria.

What is Open Mic? Performers sign up in room 272 (student activities office) and perform during showtime for a maximum of 10 minutes
You can perform anything you want: Songs, monologues, poetry,music...you name it!
Open Mic is like an easygoing coffee shop where students, teachers and staff live out their performance fantasies!

Don't forget, if all else fails, Joanne Gosselin (room 272) can hook you up with a peer tutor in certain courses. Drop by her office and fill out a tutor request form. Within 24 to 48 hours you will be matched with a peer tutor that you can meet as many times as you want, free of charge. Please be advised that tutoring is offered in a limited amount of subjects.

I am a former SLC student now studying at Laval University. Last summer, I lived in Senegal for two months. I met an incredible family, and I am now trying to help people over there. I am thus collecting cans and bottles. I will bring the money with me this summer, as I am returning to Senegal mid-July 2016. All the profits will be donated to the parent association in Lalane-Diassap, a small village of around 370 people, whose goal is to send children to school.

The annual Pentathlon des Neiges will take place on Saturday, February 20th on the Plains of Abraham.  The various events will begin at 8:00 behind Hôtel Le Concorde. 5 teams will be representing Champlain - St. Lawrence.  You are all invited to come cheer them on.

This year the Champlain Regional College Foundation will present The Potter Family Award, a $1,000.00 prize, to an eligible student from the St. Lawrence campus at the graduation ceremony on May 27th.  
Created to honour Champlain Regional College for its education mission in memory of former Director of Studies, Arthur G. Potter III, the award is presented to a student from one of the Champlain Regional Colleges, on a rotating basis, each year - this year being Champlain St. Lawrence's turn.

 A $1,000.00 prize is awarded to support a student with an inquiring, innovative mind who is able to synthesize the educational experience at Champlain in a short essay.  You must be a student at Champlain-St-Lawrence with a cumulative grade average of at least 85% and in your last semester to apply.

Deadlines for University Admissions
In Québec, the deadline to apply for the fall semester in a limited admissions program is March 1st (Bishop's deadline is April 1st). After March 1st, you may still apply for "open programs". Check university websites for all program deadlines.

Deadlines for programs and universities outside QC vary (Jan-June). 

An admissions guide is available on the Career Counselling Services' intranet community (link on the right-hand side when you log on to your portal).

Access to the fitness centre.
Fitness
All registered SLC students are members of the fitness centre. You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.

WHEN THE SEMESTER ENDS

The Winter 2016 semester ends on Friday, May 20th. All students are expected to be available until the end of the semester. 
In exceptional circumstances (ie: two exams scheduled at the same time, illness, etc.) students may be permitted to write a special exam.
