SLC Background

COURSE CHANGES / ADDING/ DROPPING A COURSE
The deadline for course changes is 4 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016. You must use the Course Modification Module which will be activated from Wednesday, January 13, 2016 to Friday, January 22, 2016.
If you want to make changes to your schedule for personal reasons, you must go through the Course Schedule Modification Module available through your Omnivox account.

Only students with the following reasons may meet an advisor for schedule changes:
* You are missing one or more courses.
* You have too many courses in your schedule.
* You failed a course and no longer have the prerequisite to take a course.
* You have no lunch hour in your schedule.
* You have a medical reason (medical note required).

Drop-in hours and dates for course schedule modifications in person:
* January 18 to January 22, 2016, see Kiki Papaconstantinou, Academic Advisor, in room 234.
You will no longer be able to add a course or make changes to your schedule after Friday, January 22, 2016.  The deadline to withdraw from a course without penalty is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

How do I drop out of a course?
From January 18 to February 11, 2016, please see Kiki Papaconstantinou, Academic Advisor, in room 234 to officially drop out of a course.
Note: You must officially withdraw from a course if you do not want to receive a failing grade. No longer going to class is not considered an official withdrawal.

IMPORTANT
Dropping out of a course has an immediate and direct impact on your academic progression. The College cannot guarantee which semester an abandoned course will be offered again. Dropping out of a prerequisite course may extend the duration of your studies. Contact Kiki Papaconstantinou before choosing to stop attending a course.

WHEN THE SEMESTER ENDS
* The Winter 2016 semester ends on Friday, May 20, 2016. All students are expected to be available until the end of the semester. In exceptional circumstances (ie: two exams scheduled at the same time, illness, etc.) students may be permitted to write a special exam.
* Should you have an unexpected emergency during the final exam period, contact Betty Ableson or Josée Guilbault in Academic Affairs immediately.
* IF YOU PLAN A TRIP DURING THE EXAM PERIOD, YOU RUN THE RISK OF FAILING THE COURSE.

I am a former SLC student now studying at Laval University. Last summer, I lived in Senegal for two months. I met an incredible family, and I am now trying to help people over there. I am thus collecting cans and bottles. I will bring the money with me this summer, as I am returning to Senegal mid-July 2016. All the profits will be donated to the parent association in Lalane-Diassap, a small village of around 370 people, whose goal is to send children to school.
