On Wed. Sept. 16, participate in the « Bike-Bus-Car Challenge »!
The « Bike-Bus-Car Challenge » will compare commuting time for SLC members from different neighborhoods. It is very simple: come to St. Lawrence by bike, by bus, or by car, or even walking, running, or with your long board! Those who arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 are invited to count how much time it takes them to get to the college (from door to door). Register your time at the south entrance of the college (the « Pyramid » side). If possible, provide the distance also (km).

Pentathlon des Neiges

This year will be our 10th year participating in the Pentathlon des Neiges. To celebrate our objective we would like to register a record amount of teams representing SLC at the Pentathlon.

We are looking for people interested in joining a committee that will help attain this objective.  If this interests you, please see Martin Beaumont in room 284.

NEED EXTRA HELP?
Workshops are available for Math, Science English and Business Courses and IT. Follow this link for more information.
New this year, the IT workshop will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from 
12:00 to 14:00 in room 241. 
 
This workshop is intended to all SLC students who require help and advice on using computer programs and apps such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Zotero and others. 
 
Business Study Groups
Starting Thursday, September 17th, all Business students are welcome to the PW Sims room (337) for individual or group work. Tutors are present and available for help. Drop in anytime Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12:10 and 14:00.
Blood-borne Infection Risk for Health Care Professionals
Protect yourself.
Are you studying or thinking of studying to become a doctor, dentist, dental hygienist, midwife, nurse, paramedic or another career in the health care field? If so, you are at an increased risk for blood borne infectious diseases, such as Hepatitis B or C. Watch the video available in French at the link below to learn more and protect yourself. 



WILL YOU BE 19 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 30TH?
RTC OPUS

If so, your RTC (OPUS) card must be updated confirming your student status to keep paying the student price. 

If you are 19 years old or will be by September 30th, you must:

1) Drop by the reception desk to obtain "une preuve de fréquentaion" proving that you are a registered student as SLC. This  RTC form is to be given to the RTC. 

2) Go to an RTC service centre to have your student status confirmed and they will update your card.

Access to the fitness centre.
Fitness All registered SLC students are members of the fitness centre. You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.

This is very, very expensive and your car is towed very very far away. You have been warned.

Every Tuesday, we will be downstairs in the cafeteria available to answer questions you have. We go to you.
 
The Guidance Counsellor or the Academic Advisor will be there weekly. For our first edition, the team (special needs technician, academic advisor, and guidance counsellor). Besides answering your questions, throughout the semester, we will also prepare information or tools to help you during your studies.

To help you get through the semester succesfully, psychosocial support is available with Kathryn Oda, social work technician! Students who wish to meet with Kathryn can come by office 273 (located inside the student  services office 272) during drop-in hours (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 13:00 - 14:00 and Tuesdays from 14:00-15:00). students. Deadline for sponsored applicants is October 14th, 4 p.m. (internal selection). 
Loran Scholars are chosen for their character, service and leadership potential. 

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of up to $100,000, each Loran Award includes an annual stipend of $9,000 and matching tuition waiver, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and one-on-one mentorship. The Fall 2015 semester ends on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. All students are expected to be available until the end of the semester. 
In exceptional circumstances (ie: two exams scheduled at the same time, illness, etc.) students may be permitted to write a special exam.
