A Major Cultural Event at St. Lawrence!! The First Monthly Open Mic!!   
Thursday, September 24 at 19:30. Where? The beautiful St. Lawrence cafeteria. What is Open Mic? Performers sign up in room 272 (student activities) and perform during showtime for a maximum of 10 minutes You can perform anything you want: Songs, monologues, poetry,music...you name it! Open Mic is like an easygoing coffee shop where students, teachers and staff live out their performance fantasies!

Our school cafeteria service now has a new administration. Caroline is here and is very happy to meet us all.

Pentathlon des Neiges
Yes already! 

This year will be our 10th year participating in the Pentathlion des Neiges. To celebrate our objective we would to register a record amount of teams representing SLC at the Pentathlon.

We are looking for people interested in joining a committee that will help attain this objective.  If this interests you, please see Martin Beaumont in room 284.
 
WILL YOU BE 19 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 30TH?
RTC OPUS

If so, your RTC (OPUS) card must be updated confirming your student status to keep paying the student price. 

If you are 19 years old or will be by September 30th, you must:

1) Drop by the reception desk to obtain "une preuve de fréquentaion" proving that you are a registered student as SLC. This  RTC form is to be given to the RTC. 

2) Go to an RTC service centre to have your student status confirmed and they will update your card.

Are you interested in volunteer work but don't know where to get information? Interested in building career related skills and gaining experience? Want to meet people who share your interest in making a difference? The Volunteer Fair will be held on Thursday, September 10th from 12:00 to 14:00 in the main hall.  SLC Reaches Out Student leaders will be presenting their projects to students and staff.

Every Tuesday, we will be downstairs in the cafeteria available to answer questions you have. We go to you.
 
The Guidance Counsellor or the Academic Advisor will be there weekly. For our first edition, meet the whole team (social work technician, special needs technician, academic advisor, and guidance counsellor). Besides answering your questions, throughout the semester, we will also prepare information or tools to help you during your studies.

We are in need of many volunteers to greet prospective students, show them around school, bring them to class and answer questions they may have on student life at SLC.

Psychosocial Support
This year at St. Lawrence, for the fall semester only, we have a social work technician, Kathryn Oda, who is available for confidential short-term psychosocial support and referrals. Students who wish to meet with the social work technician must first come by office 273 (located inside the student  services office 272) during drop-in hours (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 13:00 - 14:00 and Tuesday from 14:00-15:00). If needed, further appointments can be made. If you have any questions, feel free to send Kathryn Oda a message on MIO or come by the office.

LORAN SCHOLARS
Applications now open!
Our school may sponsor up to 8 
students. Deadline for sponsored applicants is October 14th, 4 p.m. (internal selection). 
Loran Scholars are chosen for their character, service and leadership potential. 

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of up to $100,000, each Loran Award includes an annual stipend of $9,000 and matching tuition waiver, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and one-on-one mentorship. It is tenable at any of our 25 partner universities.

ST. LAWRENCE ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2015-2016

WHEN THE SEMESTER ENDS

The Fall 2015 semester ends on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. All students are expected to be available until the end of the semester. 
In exceptional circumstances (ie: two exams scheduled at the same time, illness, etc.) students may be permitted to write a special exam.

*Should you have an emergency, contact Academic Services immediately. 

*IF YOU PLAN A TRIP DURING THE EXAM PERIOD, YOU RUN THE RISK OF FAILING THE COURSE.
Access to the fitness centre.
Fitness All registered SLC students are members of the fitness centre. You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.
