VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OPEN HOUSE
Open House Wednesday, January 21st, 2015

If you like meeting people and helping out, we would love to have you on board! We need volunteers to answer questions, talk about their experience and show visitors around.
Parents and future students will be with us from 18:30 to 21:00. A meeting will be organized a few days prior to the event to go over the various tasks. Before the event, we will have a pizza dinner for our volunteers.

You are what makes St. Lawrence a great place to be and we would be happy if you could be part of this event. If you are available, please send a MIO to Joanne Gosselin or drop by her office.

The Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs is responsible for all academic related issues and works with the following persons should you have need of help for:

  • Equivalence (courses you have taken elsewhere and would like to have them credited):  See the academic advisor room 234 (Kiki Papaconstantinou)

  • Incomplete courses for medical reasons: See the academic advisor room 234 (Kiki Papaconstantinou)
  • Attendance and absences (with medical note): See the administrative technician of academic affairs in room 233 (Josée Guilbault) or Athletes see the academic advisor room 234 (Kiki Papaconstantinou)
  • Academic integrity (concerns regarding plagiarism and cheating): the Dean of Faculty room 226 (Gordon Brown). Please make an appointment with his administrative assistant Lynne Bernier in room 231
  • Academic appeals and complaints (Ex: regarding final marks): See the administrative technician of academic affairs (Josée Guilbautl) in room 233 to fill out a request form.
  • Academic appeals and complaints (Ex: problems and issues with teachers): Jointly: Gordon Brown, Dean of Faculty room 226 and Josianne Giroux, Dean of Students room 272. Send a MIO to contact them and/or to make an appointment.

 

Josianne Giroux, Dean of Students is responsible for special needs services. 

If you do have concerns or complaints about these specific services, please contact her by MIO.

In addition, the Dean of Students is responsible for the Institutional Code of Student Conduct as well as for all non-academic student dossiers, such as the athletic program, the socio-cultural activities, the library and the career counselling services.

Counselling Services

Nicole Anne Daigle, Guidance Counsellor, offers educational and career counselling 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday). Her office is located in the library (room 254).  A new appointment booking system will be in place in January and will be explained in the next newsletter.

 

 

Loans and Bursaries from the Province of Quebec 

Students who need their Guarantee Certificate, or have questions about loans and bursaries, may contact Nicole Anne Daigle, Guidance Counsellor. Her office is in the library (254). You may also send her a MIO.

   

Dental Aptitude Test

Deadline January 15


Students applying to dentistry programs in Québec this year should be aware that 2 out of 3 universities will require that you take the Dental Aptitude Test before submitting an application for university.

The last test date for students planning to apply to dentistry for the fall semester is in February. The deadline to register for the test January 15.

SAT and SAT SUBJECT Tests 

Planning to take the SAT or SAT SUBJECT Test on January 24, 2015? The deadline to register is  December 29. Click here for international test dates. Our test center code is 97261 (for January test date). St. Lawrence is a testing center in December and in January. Students planning to apply to US universities should look into SAT testing.

Senate Page Program
Deadline: December 19, 2014
Each year, fifteen university students from across Canada are selected to participate in the Senate Page Program. 
Senate pages are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in one of the four universities in the National Capital Region. Click here for more information.

Schulich Leadership Program
($80,000 scholarship). Deadline to submit application once nominated is February 23. Deadline for school to nominate student is February 2.
2015 Schulich Leader Scholarships
