Thank you all for your generous participation in the Christmas Fair Trade Market of last week. Altogether, our SLC Community bought for more than $1575. A large part of this amount will go directly to the cooperatives and to their dispensary and schools, in the small villages of and around El Palto in northern Peru. Furthermore, some of the profit made with the chocolate bars will be given to the fund Support Lac-Mégantic.

Lastly, we still have a nice selection of jewels and clothing items available for your Christmas gifts. For the epicureans, we offer the finest fair trade and organic coffee in town (filter ground), rich hot chocolate, and some chocolate bars....ideal for stockings! Drop by if you are in need, office 357!!!!

COUNSELLING SERVICES :
DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER ON TIME!

SAT Test Date and Deadline
You must register by  December 27 to take the SAT or a SAT Subject test on Saturday, January 25, 2014. This is our last test administration. You cannot show up without registering online. If you pass the deadline and register late (waitlist testing), you will pay additional fees. For more information, go to the Counselling Webpage:
Attention Athletes: If you need your SAT scores to be sent directly to the NCAA, you must enter a specific school code: http://web1.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/pdf/How_to_Submit_Test_Scores.pdf

Dental Aptitude Test
If you are applying to dental schools this year, you should know about the Dental Aptitude Test: Students applying to dentistry programs in Québec this year should be aware that some universities will require that you take the Dental Aptitude Test before submitting an application. There is only one testdate left in February. The deadline for the February test date is January 15. The following website http://www.acoc.info/accueil/affichage.asp?B=943 explains what dentistry programs require this test.

Schulich Leader Scholarship ($20,000 per year for a total of $60, 000)
The CEGEP can nominate two outstanding students per year. Last year, one of our graduates received this scholarship. Students planning to study a STEM subject in university (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) are eligible. You must be nominated by the school. If you are eligible and would like to apply, contact Kim the week of January 6 (at the latest January 10).  Nominees will have up until February 4 to complete their application; however, since only two students can be nominated, interested students must contact Kim early. You need to meet two out of the three listed attributes (high academic standing, financial need and outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership). For more information, visit http://schulichleaders.com/frequently-asked-questions

*For a list of other scholarships available and the upcoming deadlines, visit the SLC Counselling Webpage (scholarships' link in the left-hand menu)
