Thu. Sept. 19:    Participate in the « Bike-Bus-Car Challenge »!  The « Bike-Bus-Car Challenge » will compare commuting time for SLC members from different neighborhoods. It is very simple: come to St. Lawrence by bike, by bus, or by car, or even walking, running, or with your long board! Count how much time it takes you to get to the college (from door to door). Enter through the south entrance (the « Pyramid » exit) between 8:00 and 9:00. If possible, provide the distance also (km). Free energy bar to the first 50 persons who come by bike, by long board or running!!! We already have different teams being organized. If interested, just join a team, organize one from your neighbourhood or simply give us your name and we will try to match you with others!

CAREER AND EDUCATIONAL COUNSELLING AT SLC

Schedule change:
Nicole Anne Daigle, Guidance Counsellor, is on campus four days a week: Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Her office is located in the library, room 254. You may drop in if her door is open or schedule an appointment in person, over the phone or through MIO.   
  

On Mondays and Fridays, you may see Kim Patenaude, Guidance Counsellor,  if you require assistance.

 

DROP-INS for the fall semester:

 

What are drop-ins? Fridays are dedicated to drop-ins. Kim Patenaude will be available to answer questions about career or educational information on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary! 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - SENIOR CITIZENS
Volunteers work  helping hands In-Home Stimulation Program

 

If you are interested in making a difference in seniors' lives, getting involved in the English-speaking community of Quebec, giving your time to people in need, establishing a meaningful relationship with our seniors: then the In-Home Stimulation Program is for you!

The In -Home Stimulation Program is a great way to complete your community involvement hours often required by Universities in health related programs.

 

What you should know about the program:

  • A variety of activities take place in each participating senior's home
  • Activities may vary from simple home visits to accompanying seniors to run errands
  • A four-hour training session is mandatory
  • You must participate in two sessions in order to get your 60 hours recognition for your report card

Lost and Found Tip of the week from your Reception desk team:

We are only two weeks into the semester and we already have a box full of lost school manuals that you or your parents bought with your/their hard-earned money.  Please, write your name in your school manuals. This way, if your misplaced manual is returned to the reception desk, we will send you a MIO to tell you it is here. If you do not put your name in your manuals, you might never see them again should you misplace them and you will have to pay for another copy.

Important info on changes for access to the fitness centre.
Fitness As of August 2013, the fitness centre membership is included with the purchase of the physical educaiton manual.You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.
