Student Council Logo SLCSA Student elections Thursday, September 12.
Students interested may sign up the week of Sept. 3rd - Sept. 6th.
Students may begin their campaign between September 9th to the 11th.  Elections will then be held on Thursday, September 12.
To sign up you may do so in the student council room 134B or in the Student Services office in room 272.

Positions available to first year students only:

Vice-President
(Assisting the President with everyday student council operations)
Assistant Social Officer
(Helping the social officer organize and prepare events as well as keeping records of past events).
Administrative Agent:
Person in charge of managing the Council's agenda and files in addition to over viewing  material distribution. This role requires astute organizational skills and the ability to be comfortable with computers.

Position available to first year and second year students:
Artistic Director:
Person in charge of creative components surrounding the Council's work. This role requires drawing and/or graphic abilities.

The SLC student for a day program will soon begin offering secondary V students the opportunity to visit with us.  
We are in need of student volunteers to greet them, bring them to class and show them around school.
You are proud of your college and would like to show it off?

PEER TUTORS WANTED

Tutoring students need help  
The St. Lawrence Peer-Tutoring program is actively looking for tutors to help first or second-year students in the following subjects: Math (Science and Social program), Chemistry, Physics, Macro Economics, Quantitative Methods and Accounting.

If you are interested in offering your services to help fellow students overcome their difficulties in these subjects please see Joanne Gosselin room 272.


Peer tutors must be second or third year students.


Peer tutors are paid by Champlain - St. Lawrence for their tutoring services and it will be up to you to tell me the number of hours you are willing to offer as a peer tutor.


A training session will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 12:15 in room 268. Bring your lunch and Social Insurance Number.

We are in the process of hiring minor officials to work at the various home basketball games and occasionaly other sporting events.  If you have experience and are interested, please see Joanne in room 272.

CAREER AND EDUCATIONAL COUNSELLING AT SLC
Counselling

Nicole Anne Daigle, Guidance Counsellor, is on campus three days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Her office is located in the library in room 254. You may drop in if her door is open or schedule an appointment in person, over the phone or through MIO.   

On Mondays and Fridays, you may see Kim Patenaude, Guidance Counsellor,  if you require assistance.

 

DROP-INS for the fall semester:

 

What are drop-ins? Fridays are dedicated to drop-ins. Kim Patenaude will be available to answer questions about career or educational information on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary! You do not need to wait a couple of weeks for a regular appointment.

Important info on changes for access to the fitness centre.
Fitness As of August 2013, the fitness centre membership is included with the purchase of the physical educaiton manual.You must show proof of attending SLC with your OPUS card. You will be asked to show appropriate identification to the security guard, supervisor or any staff member or teacher. If you do not have your OPUS Card with you, you will be asked to leave the fitness centre. For more info on how to obtain an OPUS card, please see Joanne in room 272.

Dental Aptitude Test

Are you applying to dental schools this year?

You should know about the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT):

 

Students applying to dentistry programs in Québec this year should be aware that some universities will require that you take the Dental Aptitude Test before submitting an application.

Test dates: November and February. The deadline to register for the November test is September 15 and the deadline for the February test date is January 15. The following website will give you information on the test and how to register: http://www.cda-adc.ca/en/dental_profession/dat/ 

 

Important

You must look up information on your future university website to see if the DAT is required and what sections will be evaluated. McGill no longer requires that their applicants take the DAT.

RTC OPUS

If so, your RTC (OPUS) card must be updated confirming your student status to keep paying the student price. 

If you are 19 years old or will be by September 30th, you must go to a RTC service centre to have your student status confirmed. To do so, please go to the reception desk to obtain the necessary form.

Nous avons plusieurs postes à combler et divers horaires à vous offrir :

-Vendredi 6 septembre:  distribution des trousses de course  de 10h à 15h et/ou de 14h30 à 19h30

-  Samedi 7 septembre, jour de la course:  tâches multiples de 7h à midi

 

Faites-nous part de vos disponibilités. Ce sera un réel plaisir de vous voir en jaune, en bleu ou en mauve! Nous cherchons toujours quelques bénévoles pour le jour de la course. N'hésitez pas à nous référer des gens que vous connaissez et qui aimeraient donner de leur temps.

Lost and Found Tip of the week from your Reception desk team:

We are only two weeks into the semester and we already have a box full of lost school manuals that you or your parents bought with your/their hard-earned money.  Please, write your name in your school manuals. This way, if your misplaced manual is returned to the reception desk, we will send you a MIO to tell you it is here. If you do not put your name in your manuals, you might never see them again should you misplace them and you will have to pay for another copy.
