Student Council General Assembly
| The Student Council will hold its general assembly on Thursday, November 29th, from 12:30 to 14:00 in room 268. Everyone is welcome. We will give all students present, information about finances, clubs and activities. All suggestions for the SLCSA are welcome.

What is Open Mic? Performers sign up in room 272 (student activities) and perform during showtime for a maximum of 10 minutes. You can perform anything you want: Songs, monologues, poetry, music...you name it! Open Mic is like an easy going coffee shop where students, teachers and staff live out their performance fantasies! It is open to all.

| Community Christmas Hamper Campaign | You will find a donation basket in front of the reception desk or next to the student council office.
Please help us help them. Here are the non-perishable items needed:
- Canned goods: soups, tuna, salmon, tomatoes, tomato sauce & paste, fruits & vegetables
- Dried pasta / macaroni
- Cereal
- Jello / puddings
- Coffee / tea / juice (unrefrigerated)
- Mixes: muffins, cookies, cakes, etc.
- Mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.
- Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, etc.)
- NOTE: No homemade items or foods with expired best-before dates please

Recruiting for the most prestigious winter sports event in Canada has begun. Runners, Nordic skiers, hockey players, speed skaters and cyclists alike are all invited to join. You may participate individually or form your own team of 3-5 people. Last year SLC brought home two banners: Inter-collegiate banner in the women and mixed categories.

Despite breakthroughs in society's recognition of sexual diversity, homophobia is still active even if the ways in which it surfaces are growing subtler. Our societies recognize that homophobia is a form of discrimination just as any other form of discrimination. Like combating these other forms, people from all communities need to become aware of this issue.
On Tuesday, November 27, SLC will present various activities on the subject of homophobia and how you can help.

Too many children have no access to children's books but with your help we can put your slightly used children's or teen's books in their little hands. We all have them at home so bring them in. We are also giving tickets for every book brought in and you have a chance to win a prize.

NEW! SNOWSHOE RUNNING
|  Our Lions might give birth to a new cub this winter. Snowshoe running is a fast growing sport that is a great complement to running or to any team sport whose season is over. It helps build leg strength, coordination and cardiovascular capacities like no other sport. St. Lawrence may have a team to participate in four races this coming winter. Everyone is welcome to join. No experience required. If you like running in the great outdoors, you will like snowshoe running! An information meeting is planned for November 27 at 12:15 in Rm268. The used battery recycling contest has been a nice success among staff with a total of 594 batteries received.

Here are the winners: - Mathieu Côté with 84 batteries - $40 - Tanya Morand with 64 batteries - $20 - Dominic Fournier & Gaby Ward with 56 batteries - $10/each
-Betty Ableson and Stephane Beaudoin with 55 batteries are very close contenders.
Winners can pick up their prize money with Christine Dick.
From now on, you can use our Battery Recycling Bin on the third floor near the south entrance.

Business program tutoring workshop
Third year business students are available two days a week in the business workshop. They provide assistance to students who are having problems in any Business course.
The workshop is held in Room 337 on Tuesday from 12:00 until 14:00 and in Room 331 on Thursday. For more info please see Jonathan Forbes.
The English Writing Workshop:
The workshop may be found in room # 263 (in the Library). English peer tutors:
The names of the English peer tutors are posted on various bulletin boards around campus. Tutors can be contacted by email to set up an appointment. For more information concerning the Writing Workshop and/or the English Peer Tutoring Program, please contact Louise Gauthier in office #324 (lgauthier@slc.qc.ca) or by MIO.
The English Peer Tutor Drop-in Service is open from 12:10 to 13:55 in room 340. This service will be offered until the week preceding final exams. Students are seen on a strictly first come first served basis.
