Honeyberry is very easy to grow and have no pest or disease issues. Two varieties are needed for pollination. Grow in full sun to part shade. Will grow 3' - 8' tall and wide.

This is a beautiful, ornamental shrub with graceful, grayish green foliage. Particularly beautiful when covered in orange fruit. Tart, nutritious berries are loaded with vitamins C, A, and E and make a delicious juice when sweetened. It has no insect or disease problems. Will grow 8 - 12 feet tall and tolerates dry, poor soil and salt laden winds. A male and a female are required for pollination.

While it's a busy month in the garden, make sure to stop and smell the roses --- take in the splendor of your plants in full bloom, visit a community garden or get to know a new public garden. Hooray for gardening! Hooray for spring!

Hydrangea
We love Hydrangeas, and we think many of you do, too. This shrub is very satisfying to grow in either a container or the ground. Few other flowering shrubs provide the extended flower power of the Hydrangea, blooming summer into fall. They prefer partial sun but will tolerate full sun on the coast.

Garden Guru: May
|
| |
Dear Garden Guru,
Hello. I have a young peach tree in
a large pot on my deck that just started to bloom for the first time. Now, some of the leaves are dimpled. The dimpled parts are red. Could this be a bug inside or a disease? What to do? Thanks. Andrea in South San Francisco
