FIPC Newsletter

Issue 32 Volume 11  - Week of August 18, 2013

From Rev. Jim Weldon

Dear FIPChurch Family,

"We're Back!"

Well we are back! It is good to go away and good to be back.  What a wonderful experience our sabbatical leave was.  We rested, read, studied, grew, and worshiped.  We had some wonderful experiences and great family time.  It was not what I expected (I will explain that on Sunday) but just what I needed!

I am so thankful and grateful for you allowing me to have this experience.  I want to thank the Session for stepping up, the staff for all the extra work they took on, Greg Cruise for his leadership, and most of all you!  You showed up.  You proved that the church is more than just one person-the church is a family and when one of the family members is absent, the family doesn't stop being a family.  You continued to be the warm, caring, involved, committed, giving church family that we all know you are!

I look forward to reconnecting with each and every one of you.  Why don't you shoot me an e-mail, give me a call, or just stop by!  Let's catch up!

Be sure not to miss this Sunday as Jennifer and I share about our sabbatical time.  See you there.  It is true...God is good!  All the time!!

Grace and Peace,
Jim

This Week's Devotional
This Week's Devotional
"Look at What You Have"
by  Max Lucado
from Facing the Giants

Linger too long in the stench of your hurt, and you'll smell like the toxin you despise.  I spent too much of a summer sludging through sludge.  Oil field work is dirty at best.  But the dirtiest job of all?  Shoveling silt out of empty oil tanks. The foreman saved such jobs for the summer help.  Thanks boss!  My mom burned my work clothes.  The stink stuck!

Your hurts can do the same.  The better option?  Look at what you have.  Your hurts and pain took much, but Christ gave you more! Catalog His kindnesses.  Everything from sunsets to salvation-look at what you have.

Let Jesus be the friend you need.  Talk to Him.  Spare no detail.  Disclose your fear and describe your dread. Will your hurt disappear? Who knows?  And in a sense, does it matter? You have a friend for life. What could be better than that?
