From Pastor Jim

Dear FIPC Church Family,

Have you ever heard the saying, good news and bad news?  Well the good news is that Tina Calloway will begin working for St Vincent's Healthcare at the end of the month.  The bad news is that she will no longer be our Director of Children's Ministries and Communications. Here is a letter she wrote for her church family:

Dear FIPC Family,

It has been a tremendous blessing to be a part of the leadership at FIPC.  The relationships formed with staff and our church family will be everlasting.  God called me here for a purpose and at this time, I feel that He is calling me forward to another position.

I am blessed that the new position is in a Christian environment, where I will be able to continue the use of the talents God has blessed me with. It is with a heavy, but assured heart that I must submit my resignation from the Director of Children's and Communications ministry, effective May 27, 2013.

I have accepted the position of Communications Specialist with St. Vincent's Healthcare located in Riverside.  The job will consist of implementing marketing functions including publicity, events, and production of marketing publications.

FIPC has and will always be my church family.  I look forward to continuing my membership with this Body, to see my son grow and be sent out with the Christlife skills learned within these walls, and to worship with my family and church family.

In addition to continuing my membership, I plan to serve on the communications team, continue as a youth leader, and will gladly offer my services for special programs and events.

May the grace of our Lord continue to bless this church, its leaders, and its members.

Blessings

Tina Calloway

Mother's Days is this Sunday! I found this touching poem which you may like:

LETTER FROM A MOTHER TO A DAUGHTER:  My dear girl, the day you see I'm getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I'm going through.

If when we talk, I repeat the same thing a thousand times, don't interrupt to say: "You said the same thing a minute ago"... Just listen, please. Try to remember the times when you were little and I would read the same story night after night until you would fall asleep.

When I don't want to take a bath, don't be mad and don't embarrass me. Remember when I had to run after you making excuses and trying to get you to take a shower when you were just a girl?

When you see how ignorant I am when it comes to new technology, give me the time to learn and don't look at me that way. Remember, honey, I patiently taught you how to do many things like eating appropriately, getting dressed, combing your hair, and dealing with life's issues every day. The day you see I'm getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I'm going through.

If I occasionally lose track of what we're talking about, give me time to remember, and if I can't, don't be nervous, impatient or arrogant. Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you.

And when my old, tired legs don't let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way that I offered mine to you when you first walked.

When those days come, don't feel sad ... just be with me, and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love.

I'll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared. With a big smile and the huge love I've always had for you, I just want to say, I love you, my darling daughter. (From: Mikey's Funnies)

God is good!  All the time!!

Grace and Peace,

Jim

We Can Trust Him
by: Julie Ackerman Link

I know very little about persecution. My physical well-being has never been threatened because of what I believe or what I say. What little I "know" about the subject comes from what I hear and read. But that is not true for many of our brothers and sisters around the world. Some of them live in danger every day simply because they love Jesus and want others to know Him too.

There is another form of persecution that may not be life-threatening, but it is heartbreaking. It's the persecution that comes from non-Christian family members. When loved ones ridicule our faith and mock us for what we believe and how we express our love for God, we feel rejected and unloved.

Paul warned believers that following Jesus would result in persecution: "All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution" (2 Tim. 3:12), and we know that sometimes rejection will come from those we love (Matt. 10:34-36). But when people we love reject the God we love, the rejection feels personal.

Jesus told us to pray for those who persecute us (Matt. 5:44), and that includes more than strangers who hate us. God is able to give us grace to persevere through persecution even when it comes from those we love.

Lord, give us grace to pray for those
Who seek our harm and not our good;
And teach us how to show them love
In ways that will be understood. -Sper
People may mock our message but they can't stop our prayers.
This Week's Funnies

Friendship can double our joy and divide our grief.

"If you'll make the toast and pour the juice, Sweetheart," said the newlywed bride, "breakfast will be ready."

"Good, what are we having for breakfast?" asked the new husband.

"Toast and juice," she replied.

"Patience is not the ability to wait but how you act while you're waiting." - Joyce Meyer

While my wife and I were shopping at a mall kiosk, a shapely young woman in a short, form-fitting dress strolled by. My eyes followed her.

Without looking up from the item she was examining, my wife asked, "Was it worth the trouble you're in?"

Twenty thousand for my brand new car; Fifteen thousand for a piece of sod; Thirty thousand I paid to begin a house; A dollar I gave to God.

The kindergarten class had settled down to its coloring books. Steve came up to the teacher's desk and said, "Miss Merc, I ain't got no crayons."

"Steve," Miss Merc said, "you mean, "I don't have any crayons. You don't have any crayons. We don't have any crayons. They don't have any crayons. Do you see what I'm getting at?"

"Not really," Steve said, "What happened to all them crayons?"

Somebody finally invented a a solar-powered laundry dryer! They are calling it a "clothes line."
