Issue 7 Volume 11  - Week of February 17, 2013

From Pastor Jim

Dear Friends,

FIPC's first adult overseas mission trip to Haiti was awesome! We have so much to share with you.  I would like to personally invite each of you to a free lunch on Sunday, March 3rd, immediately following  worship. We will have a Haitian lunch and the mission team will do a presentation of their experience. We will also have a question and answer time.

God is doing great things in and through this church! Come be apart of it!

Remember, God is good! All the time!

Grace and Peace,

Jim

NEW SERMON SERIES

Does God have a way of seeing Time, Talent, and Treasures?

This is the last Sunday for this sermon series.
February 24 with Rev. Greg Cruice

A discipleship journey into the three elements of stewardship: Time, Talent, and Treasure.

  1. Is there a Biblical order of time as God would like to see it used?
  2. Did God ever give us hints about how time should be viewed?
  3. Is there something we can learn about talents, Spiritual gifts, how to use them, where to use them?
  4. And why does Christ talk so much about money in Scripture?

Greg will be teaching an 8:30 am class each Sunday to go a little deeper and probe your questions and thoughts.  Following worship join Greg in the gathering area for questions, answers and a brief discussion.

The Stewardship of Life involves the time, talent and treasures God gives us to manage.

This Week's Devotional
This Week's Devotional
by: Marvin Williams

In an act of impatience, a man in San Francisco, California, tried to beat traffic by swerving around a lane of cars that had come to a stop. However, the lane he pulled into had just been laid with fresh cement, and his Porsche 911 got stuck. This driver paid a high price for his impatience.

The Scriptures tell of a king who also paid a high price for his impatience. Eager for God to bless the Israelites in their battle against the Philistines, Saul acted impatiently. When Samuel did not arrive at the appointed time to offer a sacrifice for God's favor, Saul became impatient and disobeyed God's command (1 Sam. 13:8-9,13). Impatience led Saul to think he was above the law and to take on an unauthorized position of priest. He thought he could disobey God without serious consequences. He was wrong.

When Samuel arrived, he rebuked Saul for his disobedience and prophesied that Saul would lose the kingdom (vv.13-14). Saul's refusal to wait for the development of God's plan caused him to act in haste, and in his haste he lost his way (see Prov. 19:2). His impatience was the ultimate display of a lack of faith.

The Lord will provide His guiding presence as we wait patiently for Him to bring about His will.

Tune your anxious heart to patience,
Walk by faith where sight is dim;
Loving God, be calm and trustful
And leave everything to Him. -Chambers
Patience means awaiting God's time and trusting God's love.

This Week's Funnies
The Carburetor

"The car won't start," said a wife to her husband. "I think
there's water in the carburetor."

"How do you know?" said the husband scornfully. "You don't even know what the carburetor is."

"I'm telling you," repeated the wife, "I'm sure there's
water in the carburetor."

"We'll see," mocked the husband. "Let me check it out.

Where's the car?"

"In the swimming pool."
