Dear Friends,
Here we GROW again! Join me in welcoming the newest members!
- Leigh and Tony Striner - Leigh is a Legal Assistance and Tony is an Aircraft Inspector. They have one son, Joe (13).
Also congratulations to those who completed a Christian Growth Class last Sunday:
- 1st Base - Leigh and Tony Striner
- 2nd Base - Rebecca and Jason Like
- 3rd Base - Laura Hunter, Mary Kay Wilson, Martha Williams
- Home Plate - John Lankenau
The next classes will be in January 2013, watch for date to be announced.
Operation Christmas Child packing party was our best one to date! Over 80 people packed 205 boxes! In these boxes were: school supplies, small toys, hygiene items (toothbrush/paste, soap, washcloths, combs, brushes, etc), hats, socks, flashlights (and batteries), sunglasses, hair clips, hard candy, small cups, bowls, hankies, scarves, soap, a personal letter written by the person who packed the box and will soon contain a gospel tract about how to become a Christian written in their own language.
The point of Operation Christmas Child is to use these gift to spread the good news of Jesus. Because of our church family, 205 children will not only get a gift, but also learn about Jesus and His love for them. I know God will use these gifts to bring boys and girls and maybe even whole families into His kingdom! Thanks to everyone who helped in this great ministry!
God is GOOD! ALL the time! Your pastor and friend...

Kairos Prison Ministry Burl White and Phil Wite were in prison as part of the team of Kairos PCI #23. The 4-day weekend is similar in many aspects to a Great Banquet event, yet it is held behind bars. Burl and Phil, along with about 25 other team members ministered to 36 guests (inmates). Please see Burl and Phils letters about this past weekend. Dear Church Family, Pastor Jim asked me to share how this past weekend went, and what I experienced while in prison on a Kairos ministry team. I must say that it was one of the most rewarding events I have ever attended. For those of you that have attended a great banquet weekend or that have served on a team can relate some what to this wonderful experience . First of all I must say that the 40 hours of training gave me and my brother in Christ, Phil White the opportunity to meet a team of people gathering together to share their love for our Lord. Wow! No political issues or differences of opinions just coming together to help men understand that there are people outside that really care and will pray for them. The Kairos team did a wonderful job giving talks and you would have been proud of your brother Phil . He gave a wonderful talk that the Holy Spirit spoke to all in attendance . I know that some inmates were touched and learned how to ask for forgiveness . I also will pray that all of them continue to seek spiritual help. I went into this ministry with a open mind about continuing , I must say that I will after seeing how it gave men hope and a change towards seeking a better life centered around Christian friends. Also, we will have a chance to continue ministering to them on monthly reunion gatherings. The food was horrible, there were some tense moments, but I must say the results touched my heart. If you have never gone to a Great Banquet or would like to be part of this ministry I would strongly urge you to do so. Your brother in Christ. Burl Hello to all. Pastor Jim asked if I would share a little of what Burl White and I experienced over the weekend. Cousin Burl and I went to the "slammer", the "joint", the "big house" - we were in prison as part of the team of Kairos PCI #23. The 4-day weekend is similar in many aspects to a Great Banquet event, yet it is held behind bars. Burl and I, along with about 25 other team members ministered to 36 guests (inmates). The guests were likely the cream of the crop at Putnam Correctional Institute (PCI) yet there were no choirboys or acolytes in attendance. Burl and I both gave talks, and I can say for certain Burl gave a great delivery. I believe lives were changed, and I also believe some guests were accomplished in saying things naive old men like me wanted to hear. However, I believe it was a ministry worth doing, and it is a ministry I believe Burl and I want to continue. If you have not been to a Great Banquet I urge you to go, don't cheat yourself. If you are interested in being on a Kairos team - talk to either of us. God wants our time, talents, and treasures. Give it up. God Bless Phil White _________________________________________________

This Week's Funnies
|
You Need A Sticker - A new soldier was on sentry duty at the main gate. His orders were clear. No car was to enter unless it had a special sticker on the windshield. A big Army car came up with a general seated in the back. The sentry said, "Halt, who goes there?" The chauffeur, a corporal, says, "General Wheeler." "I'm sorry, I can't let you through. You've got to have a sticker on the windshield." The general said, "Drive on!" The sentry said, "Hold it! You really can't come through. I have orders to shoot if you try driving in without a sticker." The general repeated, "I'm telling you, son, drive on!" The sentry walked up to the rear window and said, "General, I'm new at this. Do I shoot you or the the driver?"
Very Brave Men - General McKenzie was in charge of the Navy, and he was visiting his colleague General Marshall, who was in charge of the Army. McKenzie arrives at the military camp and is greeted by Marshall. They both walk around the place, and McKensie asks: "So how are your men?" "Very well trained, General." "I hope so. You see, my men over at the Navy are so well trained, you could see they're the bravest men all over the country."
"Well, my men are very brave, too." "I'd like to see that." So Marshall calls private Cooper and says: "Private Johnson! I want you to stop that tank coming here with your body!" "Are you crazy? It'd kill me, you idiot! I'm out of here!" As private Johnson ran away, Marshall turned to a bewildered McKenzie and said: "You see? You have to be pretty brave to talk like that to a general."
