From Pastor Jim

Dear Friends,

You did it!  YOU made this year's Fall Festival FIPC's best one ever!  Not only did we have our largest crowd, but we also had the largest number of volunteers to help.  You served Christ and His church with excellence, enthusiasm, and love.  It was amazing to watch as you served people with warm, welcoming smiles and greeted our community with the love and hospitality of Christ!   YOU DID IT!  I cannot thank you enough for what you did last Sunday for our Fall Festival!!

Did you take photos while at the event? Like us on facebook and share your photos from the Fall Festival for everyone to enjoy!

You hear me say this all the time, because it is true... God is GOOD!  ALL the time!

Your pastor and friend...

THANK YOU FIPC

The Blood Alliance is pleased that your organization sponsors blood drives and continues to be part of this valuable community blood program.

The efforts of Fleming Island Presbyterian have always been greatly appreciated and its support of the community blood program will go a long way towards replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives.

You may be interested to know these little known facts:

  • There is no substitute for human blood. It cannot be manufactured or harvested making YOU the ultimate human resource.
  • It only takes about an hour to donate a pint of blood and you can save three lives.
  • The Blood Alliance must collect 360 pints every day to keep up with our current hospital needs.
  • Of the 60% of healthy Americans who can donate life-saving blood, only 5% do.
  • If donors donated two times a year, blood shortages could be prevented.
  • Blood collected by The Blood Alliance stays right here in our community.

This Week's Devotional
This Week's Devotional

As I waited to make a right-hand turn at a busy intersection, an ambulance appeared over the crest of a hill, speeding in my direction. Someone behind me honked, urging me into the crossroads. I knew the ambulance would be unlikely to stop and that it could have been disastrous to make my turn. So I kept my foot on the brake pedal and stayed put.

Spiritually speaking, we need to "stay put" and remain faithful to God despite pressure from others. King Solomon had to learn this the hard way. He began his reign by asking God for wisdom (1 Kings 3:9), and his prayer at the dedication of the temple revealed his loyalty (8:23,61). But he did not remain committed. He married many foreign women who eventually influenced him to worship other gods. By the end of his life, his "heart was not loyal to the Lord" (11:1-6; Neh. 13:26).

Today, just as in ancient times, people may prompt us to shift our loyalty away from God and His truth. Yet with God's help we can hold fast to the word of life (Phil. 2:16). If you feel pressured to enter a dangerous intersection of beliefs, study God's Word, put on His armor (Eph. 6:10-18), and ask the Holy Spirit for help (1 Cor. 2:10-12). Then stand fast with your fellow believers in Christ.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you-
Ye dare not trust your own.
To avoid being pulled into error, keep a firm grip on the truth.

This Week's Funnies

A distraught senior citizen phoned her doctor's office.

"Is it true," she wanted to know, "that the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?"

"Yes, I'm afraid so," the doctor told her.

There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, "I'm wondering, then, just how serious is my condition because this prescription is marked 'NO REFILLS'!"

Success is 10% inspiration, 90% last-minute changes.

"God has not changed and His laws have not changed. He is still a God of love and mercy. But He is also a God of righteousness and judgment. Any individual or nation which ignores His moral and spiritual laws will ultimately face His judgment." - Billy Graham

On a mountain climbing expedition the Swiss guide warned an American tourist, "Be especially careful not to fall - it's a dangerous place. But if you do fall," he added nonchalantly, "remember to look to the right - the view is extraordinary

The doctor took Dan into the room and said, "Dan, I have some good news and some bad news."

Dan said, "Give me the good news."
The Doctor responded, "They're going to name a disease after you."

"I just read a list of 100 things to do before you die and I'm pretty surprised 'Yell for help' wasn't one of them."

"Some people are living proof that it is easier to get older than it is to get wiser."
