QuickBooks "challenged"?

    Get Help From a ProAdvisor

If you own a small business and use QuickBooks, you know that QuickBooks is a very comprehensive accounting software. But using the software can still be time consuming if you are not a bookkeeper by trade.

While you could hire a CPA to do your bookkeeping, hiring one is not always the most economical solution for running your day to day business operations. Hiring a part-time in house bookkeeper seems like a more cost-effective solution, but quality of bookkeepers can vary significantly. And employee turnover is costly when a new bookkeeper is brought in with a different skill set.

Hiring a ProAdvisor is a great middle ground solution. ProAdvisors receive certified training from Intuit and must complete an annual certification exam to maintain their status. They are well trained in customizing QuickBooks for your specific business to get the most out of the software. ProAdvisors are well versed in maintaining customer, vendor and employee information, entering and paying bills, creating invoices, processing payroll and maintaining a clean and backed up file. This saves time and money long term because they can perform these tasks that would otherwise take you or your bookkeeper much longer to learn and complete.

They also have access to Intuit's ProAdvisor help line. This in itself is a huge time and cost  savings, and there is no pressure for you to upgrade to a more current version of QuickBooks when it may not be necessary.

For your very own QuickBooks ProAdvisor, give me a call.

The Biggest Challenge Facing Your Small Business is ...

Starting a business is a big achievement for many entrepreneurs, but maintaining one is the larger challenge. There are many standard challenges that face every business whether they are large or small. These include things like hiring the right people, building a brand and so on. However, there are some that are unique to small businesses - ones most large companies have grown out of long ago. Over the next five issues, we will be identifying five of the Biggest Challenges Facing Your Small Business (from contributor Andrew Beattie in Investopedia).

This Week:  Money Management

Having enough cash to cover the bills is a must for any business, but it is also a must for every individual. Whether it is your business or your life, one will likely emerge as a capital drain that puts pressure on the other. In order to head off this problem, small businesses owners must either be heavily capitalized or be able to pick up extra income to shore up cash reserves when needed. This is why many small businesses start out with the founders working a job and building a business simultaneously. While this split focus can make it difficult to grow a business, running out of cash makes growing a business impossible.

Money management becomes even more important when cash is flowing into the business and to the owner. Although handling

business accounting and taxes may be within the capabilities of most business owners, professional help is usually a good idea. The complexity of a business' books go up with each client and employee, so getting an assist on the book keeping can prevent it from becoming a reason not to expand.
