When I assumed the role of NADRA president, two years ago, I talked about one of my heroes, Larry Walters, who was a retired truck driver that always wanted to pilot an airplane but was never able to. One day, he couldn't just sit there anymore and Larry took to the air in a most unconventional way, in an lawn chair and 43 helium weather balloons, a six-pack of beer, 3 PBJ sandwiches, a CB Radio, a Parachute and a pellet gun. Surviving a crash landing and after his arrest,  he explained why he did it...

You can't just sit around forever just thinking about, sooner or later you have to do something about it.

If you are part of this industry, it's time to 'do something about it'.  NADRA is making meaningful progress in Code and Education and in Growing the Industry.  We can do more, but not without you.  Make us better by being a bigger part of us.

Personally, I have, in church, ministered to those in the final weeks of life, those dying of AIDS, the blind and elderly and in youth ministry.  Serving in these ministries provides me with great joy and spiritual growth.  I have struggled to find that enriching experience at work but I have found a semblance of that in service at NADRA.

In November, my service as President ends and I move into the role of Immediate Past President of NADRA.  I want to express my thanks to all of you. It was a joy to serve the interests of the industry and a pleasure to get to know so many of you.  Wishing you health and prosperity.
