Editor's Note
| New Mid-Month Newsletter
|
We're happy to announce the debut of our mid-month eNews. There's a lot going on at the California Genealogical Society (CGS) -- more than can comfortably "fit" in a single monthly newsletter -- so we'll be sending you a second eNews on the 15th of each month. This mid-month edition will highlight upcoming classes and field trips.
And speaking of classes, we appreciate your post-class evaluations. Based on that feedback, we've designed two new series of classes: one that focuses on record sets and one that illustrates specific research projects. Check out "class spotlights" below for information on the first two courses in these new series.See you at the library!

Class Spotlight: Gentleman Officer -- Uncovering a Legacy of Firsts
| Saturday, February 8, 2014, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m
|
Did one of your ancestors serve in the U.S. military during World War I? Member David Goerss will discuss the journey he took when he began a search for his grandfather's records. He'll explain his research strategy, give examples of "problems" to be solved, discuss specific records, and talk about lesser-known resources. Register now. (Free for members!)
|
Class Spotlight: Probate and Guardianship Records
| Saturday, February 22, 2014, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
|

Mention probate records and many people think only of wills, but wills represent the smallest fraction of these valuable documents. Susan Goss Johnston will examine the many records created to settle a decedent's estate: where those records can be found and what they can tell you. Register now. (Free for members!)
