Let's Get the Party Started!

We have so many things to celebrate, we just had to have a party!

Please join us, Monday, May 20 at 6:00,

This first concert in the "Monday Music" series is in honor or the Lindheimer Master Naturalist.  These people have worked hundreds of  hours to enhance the library grounds. A fairytale bridge has been created and the entire length of the nature trail is almost ready for foot traffic.  Music starts at 6:30, but plan on being here by 6:00 to meet some of the people who worked on this project.

A number of people got the chance to hear Alli Mattice sing two songs as a guest at the singer-songwriter series and wanted more. So, we are happy to announce that she will be the headliner at our first "Monday Music Concert". David Cleary will provide backup so we know everyone will have a good time.

"Name the Dinosaur Egg Project"

We know about Dinosaurs - because we live at Canyon Lake where there are dinosaur tracks (footprints from many thousands of years ago.)  Did you know that dinosaurs laid eggs?  These eggs must have been very big, maybe even "Egg normous!"

Artists around the lake have drawn and painted pictures of what the eggs might have looked like and are even planning to make the eggs, some small and some quite large, some beautiful and some funny.  The statues of their designs will be placed all around the lake at businesses, parks and other locations.

We need a name for this adventure and are asking everyone to enter a contest for naming this project. Can you hatch a name? There are prizes for the winner.  Pick up and return entry forms at TPML or the Chamber of Commerce.  The deadline for submitting your idea is May 18, 2013.

This a joint project of the Art Guild of Canyon Lake, Chamber Commerce of the Canyon Lake Area, the Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country, and the Tye Preston Memorial Library.

                                "Butterfly Effect" by Margie Bivens

                                        Donated by Diane Schaule

In remembrance of her mother, Elsie Zrimec

butterfly tree

Butterflies and Mothers

With soundless tenacity she begins

To break the chrysalis she's lain within

And emerge, an exquisite creature anew -

Beautiful, and as fresh as the morning dew.

A gift from above, her wings now unfurled

To adorn this wondrous, magical world -

Dancing, flitting, alighting, still -

The measure of her creation filled.

My mother, too, loved the out-of-doors.

My mother's countenance forever wore

A radiance that shone brightly through her eyes -

She reminds me of these butterflies....

Author:  R'Ann Rahman

TPML is grateful for this wonderful addition to the butterfly garden.
