The Learned Owl Book Shop, June 1, 2016
Kate's Corner

Happy June! We are eagerly awaiting the details of the construction on Main Street scheduled to start any day now. Keep an eye out for updates through us and the city.

Most events will go on as normal, including the Farmers Market, which kicks off this Saturday. The Learned Owl will be there every Saturday, weather permitting, throughout the summer for story time. We are looking forward to our annual Where's Waldo search in July, and we are planning more themed story times on Sundays in store.

Lots to do for your little people on summer vacation! If all else fails, there's always Summer Bridge. Stop in and pick yours up today. We will even gift wrap it for you!

Thank you for your support, and happy reading!
- Kate

by Lisa Jewell
[Atria Books, $25.00; available June 7]
Linda says: A great mystery full of dark secrets and innuendo, wrapped up in what appears to be the story of a charming communal garden square in the heart of London... This book is an intriguing commentary on how well we know those with whom we live and those whom we see every day, and whether or not our trust is correctly placed. The characters are as recognizable as our own neighbors, and the story moves along at a delightfully suspenseful clip. [read more]

Max Crumbly is about to face the scariest place he's ever been: South Ridge Middle School. There's a lot that's great about his new school, but there's also one big problem: Doug, the school bully whose hobby is stuffing Max in his locker. If only Max could be like the hero in his favorite comics. Unfortunately, Max's uncanny, almost superhuman ability to smell pizza from a block away won't exactly save any lives or foil bad guys.
