Ken Marchand - Honored Lifetime Builder - Canadian Rockies Ski Racing Hall of Fame

It's a pretty impressive lineup. Through the 1960's, 70's and 80's the Skimeisters Racing Club of Calgary graduated a steady stream of talented athletes to the Alberta and Canadian Ski Teams.  They became Olympians, stood on World Cup podiums and won Canadian Championship titles, took on leadership roles as coaches, officials and volunteers that has left an enduring mark on ski racing in western Canada.

The man considered the driving force behind this wave of success is Ken Marchand, one of the founding figures behind the establishment of the club in the 1960's. Ken was an early advocate of performance focus - encouraging young talented skiers to take up the sport. His relentless effort was instrumental in guiding the early careers of at least a dozen athletes who moved to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team. In the early 1970's the Skimeisters had more athletes on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team than any other club in Canada.
