Attention all ROC'S

With the race season officially underway we'd like to remind all ROCS that prior to their race they need to fill out an Event Checklist. This will ensure that you have the correct bibs, panels, banners etc. for your race. This checklist should be submitted to Rachel Bowman (rachel@albertaalpine.ca) at least two weeks prior to the race date.

Ski Racer Etiquette at Ski Hills

We would like to give a friendly reminder from our ski racing venue partners to all athletes about lodge etiquette. Ski resorts are a big part of Alberta Alpines athlete success so we want to ensure we are treating these venues with the respect. A few reminders are listed below.

Cafeteria Cleanliness

Please make sure you are cleaning up your eating space after lunch and breaks because there will be people using that area once you're done. Storing your backpacks on hooks or neatly under tables helps other patrons enjoy their rest times too.

Lift Lines

Lift attendants are there to help with line organization and ease when loading the chair. Please try and have lift tickets with you at all times, only use the single line when you are a single and check your speed before entering.

Slow Zones

People learning to ski look up to racers and might one day want to be one, so please be respectful of their space and safety and slow down when you are in these beginner areas.

Ski Racks

Placing skis on the provided racks not only helps the resort look better, it is the safest place for your equipment. Leaving skis and poles on the ground increases the risk of damage and theft.

Start and Finish Areas

Race courses are fenced off for the safety and protection of you the racer and other skiers on the hill. Please use only the space sectioned off to store clothes and equipment. This allows the public to move freely around the race closure, and protects your gear.

Let's ensure that we are all great ambassadors for our sport.

Long Term Athlete Development Program and Snow Stars Update

Long term athlete development is the cornerstone of our planning for the development of ski racers in the Province of Alberta. Through a partnership with the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and Alpine Canada, we are proud to present the Snow Stars Program and Canada's own long term alpine development plan, the AIM 2 WIN.

This, along with the seven-step skill development guide by Snow Stars, is the foundation on which our nation's best ski racers have learned from and we hope to continue to produce excellent skiers from this program.
