"One of the most dangerous threats to productivity is the trap of getting it all done. The illusion that getting one more thing done today equates to one less thing to do tomorrow can stop productivity in its tracks while causing frustration, stress and fatigue." Jennifer Wilmoth, McGhee Senior Consultant
You can try these tips to help you manage what will get done though:
1. Review: What must get done within the next four to twelve weeks.
2. Actions: What are the next steps to the activities that must get done listed above? Schedule those tasks into your calendar.
3. Be fair to yourself and schedule what needs to be done into your calendar. And track what you are doing with all that supposed 'free" time.
5. Review weekly: Check off what gets done and reschedule the rest.
I use colour coding to help me with my weekly review. Each action has a colour attached and I have a colour that represents 'Done'. This is a huge support for me in the busy weeks because at a quick glance I know what wasn't done and then I move into the next week or two or delete it altogether.
Meet Mike Song - His mantra is Get Control and Get More Done. I recommend signing up for his newsletter because each week he offers amazing tips. I guarantee you will learn a shortcut to the way you work that will save time!
Note: he does not pay me anything to say this!
I've included some of his links in the Quick Links section so that you can see for yourself.
