A weekly source of positive energy and information
for the village of Sayulita Mexico

From the Editor's Desk

Our last El Sayulero of 2013 brings you some great ideas where to celebrate and ring in 2014 this Tuesday December 31st. Christmas celebrations are now behind us and despite the unseasonably rainy weather and thunderstorms in Sayulita this past week, residents and locals enjoyed a very Merry Christmas eve and Christmas day. Restaurants were full and the streets were busy with tourists visiting this time of year. Now the town looks forward to celebrating the New Year ahead. Check out all the available restaurants and Sayulita's favorite nightlife spots hosting New Year's Eve bashes, romantic dinners, dance parties and champagne toasts.

El Sayulero wishes everyone a Happy New Year!

The annual toy drive and Christmas party for the children hosted and organized every year by Pepe Montoya and his wife proved once again to be a success thanks the efforts of the community pulling together and donating over 400 toys for local boys and girls who otherwise wouldn't have had a Christmas toy from Santa. On Sunday December 22nd was the 6th annual toy drive and Christmas party for the Children of Sayulita and San Ignacio and Pepe Montoya says the smiles on the children's faces were priceless. Read more

Let's Keep Sayulita Clean
By Victoria Munoz

Last week the municipality came to Sayulita for a couple of nights in a row to clear and clean the streets of our beautiful town. With a big truck full of water, five people and their staff, some shovels, coffee and  lots of attitude, the "Municipio" of Bahia de Banderas showed up last week in the middle of the night to clean the streets of Sayulita. This was a big job spending more than 25 minutes every 10 meters or so to clean the cobblestone streets.  They would first wash the streets with high water pressure while someone else would sweep and gather the accumulated sand and a third person would collect it with a shovel in order to clear it away. Read more

Sayulimpia's Efforts to Keep
Sayulita Clean
By Carol Ashwell

Once upon a time there was a beautiful village with a sewage problem. Marcos Scott and community members sprang into action to form the group "Sayulimpia". With the proceeds of the first Fiesta fundraiser, they initiated and supported the construction of our sewage plant. Then, the government took up the challenge and built this first treatment plant. This group was the seed for Grupo ProSayulita, now known as ProSayulita. Read more

Pet of the Week: "Bubu"

Hola! I am Bubu, a male, black lab mix around the age of 2. I was found abandoned off of the Punta Mita Highway. Although the start of my life was not the best, I am very happy to now be with my friends at Sayulitanimals. I am a very posi...tive and relaxed boy. I enjoy the company of other dogs and like to play with toys. I am neutered, potty trained and ready to find my "fur-ever" home. Do you have room in your heart and home for a sweet and easy guy like me?
