 | Sayulita Thanksgiving 2013:  Turkey Day in the Tropics
 By Riley Hunter

Yesterday, the community of Sayulita was faced with a tough decision: where to eat your Thanksgiving dinner! With so many local restaurants offering prix fixe menus, it was truly difficult to choose just one. So, El Sayulero decided to visit some of the more popular options, and see why patrons chose their respective restaurants and what sets each restaurant apart. What we found, is that each menu and atmosphere is just as unique as Sayulita's eclectic community. Read more    |

 | | Bite This: Monchis Kristina Burger
The burgers at Monchis are the real deal.   Now, true, there are other goodies on the menu, but to go to Monchis and not have a burger is like going to Paris and skipping the Louvre or going to Pisa and not see the leaning tower.           There are many different variations of the Monchis burger. That said there are two main issues: 1, the meat. 2, the roll. All the other various toppings are merely grace notes. The meat  is delicious-savory and cooked just as you ask for it and a goodly portion, to be sure.  The roll is soft and tasty.  With the Kristina burger (the one I chose) you get mushrooms, onions and blue cheese and other tidbits.  One bite and I was hooked. Two bites and I was still hooked. I had a side of onion rings and they taste even better than they look.  Crispy, crunchy and a perfect foil to the burger.  Add to that, pleasant service and there you have it-a deserving best bite.   |

 | Yambak Bar Starts a Brew of Their Own
 By Riley Hunter

Yambak Bar is located on the Southeast corner of the plaza, and a popular spot for DJ music, live bands, late night parties, and a young and hip atmosphere! After reopening this season, Yambak went under a little remodeling and has come out looking better than ever. A stylish bar area decorated with antique license plates, a collection of old school Yambak stickers from past events, and even a little fish tank is set into the bar! But, what brought El Sayulero to Yambak, was their new home-brewed beer. A dark chocolaty stout was the perfect way to wash down Thanksgiving dinner.  Read more   |

 | Pet of the Week: "Mago"
Hola! I am Mago, a senior male dog who was found abandoned in the Mega parking lot in Bucerias. I am recovering from some skin issues due to neglect, heat and fleas. I am a very mellow dog who's happy just lounging around the house and going on short walks. I am very loving and get along with other dogs. Don't forget.... You can teach an old dog new tricks! Let my friends at Sayulitanimals know if you would like to meet me.
