Happy Mother's Day in Mexico! May 10th is officially Mother's Day in Mexico while neighbors to the North in USA and Canada will be celebrating with Mom this Sunday, May 12th. If you haven't got something for Mom yet, today in town trucks are set up on several different corners selling flower arrangements and bouquets from the backs of their trucks. I hope all moms out there enjoy their special day with their families.
 It's still not too late to see whales! Surprisingly enough there are still some humpback whales to be seen in the Bay of Banderas. I recently enjoyed a fun day aboard the Chica Locca trimaran on a trip to the Marietta Islands and saw these enchanting mammals splash in the ocean. If you are lucky you may still catch them before they migrate back north for the Summer season. They'll soon be gone until November so plan your boating excursion soon!
It's mid May already and summer is fast approaching, yet the tourism in Sayulita seems to still be in full swing. There are many upcoming weddings in the next couple of months. Spring is wedding season all over and Sayulita is no exception as an ideal location for destination weddings! Walking around town this past couple weeks, you would have noticed the amount of people strolling the streets, shopping in boutiques and enjoying time on the beach in Sayulita.

Feliz dia de las Madres en México! El 10 de may es oficialmente el día de las madres en México, mientras nuestro vecinos al norte, en Estados Unidos y Canada celebran son sus mamas este domingo, el 12 de mayo. Si no has regalado nada a mama todavía, hoy en el pueblo hay camionetas estacionadas vendiendo ramos de flores. Espero que todas las mamas la pasen bien con sus familias.
Todavía hay tiempo para ver las ballenas! Sorprendentemente, todavía hay ballenas jorobadas en la Bahía de Banderas. Recientemente aborde la Chica Locca y disfrute el viaje donde vi estas ballenas encantadoras cerca de las Islas Mariettas. Si tienes suerte puede verlas antes que se regresen al norte durante el verano. Pronto se van hasta noviembre así que planea tu viaje en barco pronto.
Ya estamos a medios de mayo y pronto viene verano, sin embargo aun hay mucho turismo. Hay muchas bodas en Sayulita en los meses que vienen. La primavera significa bodas en todos lados y Sayulita no es excepción con su ubicación ideal para las bodas. Caminando por el pueblo en las ultimas semanas, hubieras notado toda la gente en las calles, en las tiendas y disfrutando tiempo en la playa en Sayulita!

Live Music Fills the Air in Sayulita

Residents and visitors of Sayulita got a special treat last weekend as a couple live bands performed in our small town, one of which was a very famous pop-rock band, Mana. Although only two members of the normally four-member band performed in Sayulita the show was incredible and fans of Mana got to enjoy listening to some of their best and most classic Spanish rock tunes. We have recently returned home to Washington State after a 6 week stay in Sayulita where we painted murals at Escuela Primaria Damian Carmona. If you see a sun smiling over the street and balloons floating on buildings by the Primaria, well, that was us :)
It is our second journey to Sayulita. Last year we stayed for 3 weeks, also painting at the Escuela. Our hearts were so touched by the people who began to recognize us on the streets, who be-friended and welcomed us into the community with open arms as we walked the streets with paintbrush in hand. Overwhelmed does not begin to describe our hearts!
We would like to express our sincere appreciation and love for Sayulita and the people who reached out to us during our stay this past March-April.Special thanks to Ruben & Monica of Rubens Deli, Michael & David of Xocotla, Pedro & Irene Martinez, Miguel (Director @ Damian Carmona) , Barbra Nelson, Ramon (teacher at Damian Carmona) Samona & Ale Perrino. So many to name, you know who you are and we send our love! It was life-changing for us, once again, and we will be back next year to the place we feel so at home in.

Recientemente regresamos a casa en el estado de Washington después de nuestra estancia de 6 semanas en Sayulita donde pintamos murales en la primaria Damian Carmona. Si ves un sol sonriendo y globo flotando en el edificio, pues fuimos nosotros que los pintamos.
Es nuestra segunda visita a Sayulita. El ano pasado nos quedamos 3 semanas tambien pintando la escuela. Nuestros corazones han estado tocados por la gente que nos empezo a reconocer en las calles, los amigos que hacemos y todos los que nos dieron la bienvenida a la comunidad con brazos abiertos. Nuestros corazones están emocionados.
Queremos expresar nuestros agradecimientos a las personas que nos ayudaron durante nuestra estancia este marzo y abril. Gracias a Ruben y Monica de Ruben's Deli, Michael y David de Xocotla, Pedro y Irene Martinez, Miguel (el director de Damian Carmona), Barbara Nelson, Ramon (maestro en Damian Carmona), Samona y Ale Perrino. Hay tantas personas que nombrar y ustedes saben quienes son y manadmos saludos. Nos cambiaron la vida y regresamos el proximo ano al lugar donde nos sentimo en casa.

Local Sayulita Sailor to Participate in North American Sailing Championships

Three promising Optimist sailors from the state of Nayarit have been selected to represent Mexico in international competitions during July 2013. Partially sponsored by Todo Vela Mexico, these sailors need additional help to cover their expenses. Keven Avila, a local Sayulita secondary student is one of the participants invited to compete in Bermuda at the North American competition. Hola! I am Pepe a black lab mix who was rescued above the Malecon in PV. I am about 1 year old and very friendly with a playful disposition. I enjoy walking on leash and love my car rides! I am currently being attended by Vet's Paco and Eva at Vet Sabuesos. I am bathed, groomed, treated for minor street wounds and neutered. I am still a bit skinny, but feeling healthy and in good condition. I need to find a foster or permanent home ASAP, before the Vets release me back onto the streets. Actualmente me estan atendiendo en el veterinario de Paco y Eva en la Veterinaria Sabuesos. Me han banado, cortado el pelo y me han tratado por lesiones de la calles y estoy castrado.
