Greetings to our 8,547 subscribers
Residents in Sayulita this week certainly felt the temperatures rise. It`s starting to feel like summer as we approach low season. It`s the time of year when many of our friends and family leave town for a few months escaping the heat. Those who stay through these upcoming summer months will enjoy some down time, summer fun in Sayulita and a much less busy downtown vibe with less people and less traffic. Today is the last Friday Farmer`s Market. El Mercado del Pueblo will leave the Casa de la Cultura until November but look out for a smaller, co-operative farmer`s market through the summer at Sandrita`s en la Manana. You may still find some of your favorite products available through the summer.
Last Sunday Sayulita hosted its first Escaramuza event where ladies on horseback showed off their skills and talent on beautiful horses and in traditional, colorful dresses. A big congratulations to our home team, Las Perlas de Sayulita for placing 1st in this competition. Read our interview of the week with Janet Quijano, the coach for the Sayulita team and some great photos by Donna Day that really captured last Sunday`s event.
El Sayulero bi-weekly editions: Heading into the month of May and Sayulita`s slower season, El Sayulero will be publishing bi-weekly editions from now through until November. Look for the next El Sayulero on Friday May 10th.
Thank you for reading El Sayulero.

Saludos a nuestros 8,547 lectores

GPS: Give to Keep Emergency Services
|
By Nick Sherman
So far we have raised $9,900USD since the beginning of the year for our Ambulance, Fire , and Police presence in town. Our operating expenses, to continue the current level of commitment, is $50,000. We are $39,100 short of maintaining our Ambulance, Police and Fire stations in town. That is 100 people or businesses donating just $400USD. For anyone who rents their home, that is one or two nights rent. I salute those of you who donated already, we have renewed some of the pending leases for another quarter. More
Mas

Escaramuza Event and Sayulita Won!
|
By Ed Schwartz
Right away I have to tell you that Escaramuza means "skirmish" and what it is, in horse parlance, is a group of women, beautifully costumed, showing off their excellent equestrian skills. And, from what I saw last Sunday at the riding circle, it was exciting for viewers and very difficult for the women doing the riding. More
Mas

Sayulita Is For Everyone: Interview with Janet Quijano
|
By Timothy Kelly
This past Sunday, in case you missed it, offered us in Sayulita a taste of tradition and the past. In this day of electronics, I found it a very pleasant diversion to watch Las Perlas and other equestrian teams parade through town in formal dress, on their way to a very entertaining competition at the arena at the edge of town. On this day the team from Sayulita were good enough to win the competition, and this morning I had the honor of sitting with their leader and trainer, Janet Quijano. More
Mas

Rollie's is a unique act. The breakfast is pretty darn tasty and Rollie will always offer you extra pancakes, just in case your main portion didn't fill you up! It's the social morning scene of Sayulita, especially during weekends. That's why I like to sit downstairs in the main dining room-- to soak up the atmosphere as my pancakes are soaking up the syrup.
