Greetings to our 8,547 subscribers
Sayulita amidst Semana Santa has droves of national tourists from cities all over Mexico who have come to Sayulita to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. The town is full of vacationers having a great time playing in the waves and perfecting their tans. Traffic and parking is a bit tricky this weekend in the downtown area, and it's advisable to walk, bike or take a golf cart into the busy streets of Sayulita, avoiding the chaotic traffic. If you haven't stocked up on basic groceries and household items, you may want to soon as store shops are likely to run out of merchandise that is normally available. The night life scene in Sayulita this weekend is also a little more rowdy with party goers seeking out late entertainment, bars and restaurants. The town is expected to fill up even more by tonight, so if you prefer to avoid the crowds, you may want to stay home this weekend and enjoy Easter/Pascua with close friends and family. Semana Santa will end on Sunday March 31st. Remember to keep our streets and beaches clean this weekend.

Semana Santa in Sayulita, Here I Come!
|
By Nicki Cooper
There's an old saying, 'if you can't beat them, join them,' and I have! Semana Santa seemed slow this year as the beginning of the week yielded nothing, but as of Thursday all the buses started pouring in, the streets filled, and the holy holiday truly began. The beach is now a sea of brightly colored umbrellas from Don Pedros to La TerrazOla. People are swimming, dancing, hula-hooping, and soaking up the sun as they celebrate and party hard. More
Mas

Sayulita Is for Everybody:
Interview with Marilee Woolace
|
By Timothy Kelly
Who woulda' thunked that the woman sitting in Spanish class all those weeks ago would one day be my interview? Well, I've learned that living in Sayulita you learn to expect everything, and be surprised by nothing:-) So, as we sat outside her shop, Quiverito, Marilee Woolace and I couldn't have been more "chido"; even with Semana Santa going on all around us. Marilee is what we "more mature" persons call a Military Brat. It is an endearing term meant to designate the children of someone serving in the military. Marilee's dad was an Air Force helicopter pilot, and, by the time she graduated high school (listed on FaceBook as the North Pole High School), she had lived in no fewer than three states on four different military bases. Painting a Wonderful Picture of Fine Art in Sayulita
|
There are a lot of surfers in Sayulita but I think art is also making waves here. And I have it from first-hand experience. Last year, I set out to do a story on art in Sayulita for Sayulita Magazine where I interviewed many artists and learned about their work. I was delighted with the range of talent. Then, I met Dianne Neuman, an excellent artist who also has a gallery, Arte de Sayulita. We talked a lot about our experiences in art. Then, a light went on over Dianne's head. She said to me, "How about making Sayulita an art center. More

Pueblo Magico: A Patio Furniture Tale
|
Like other Sayulita homeowners, when our house was completed about seven or eight years ago, we needed some outdoor patio furniture for our terraces. Well, after a quick shopping trip, it didn't take long to figure out that Sam's had some nice looking furniture that was half of the price of the upscale places in PV. You probably have seen the pieces-- white aluminum frame with white, blue, green or orange material-- in chairs and chaises. When Sam's had them in stock, they sold like Rollie's hotcakes. In fact, I've seen dozens sold at once to small inns and resorts. That was OK since we had already grabbed the ones we needed- in white and blue material. We were in good shape. More
Mas
