Greetings to our 8,392 subscribers
The weather has certainly cooled off and it would appear that "winter" in Sayulita has officially arrived. Although visitors to Sayulita from up north and snow birds escaping harsh winters will tell you that this really is perfect sunny weather, residents who live here all year long may feel a chill in the morning air and evenings compared to the last few months and surfers are jumping into considerably colder water temperatures in our bay. The cooler nights make for a wonderful night's sleep in Sayulita, no air conditioning necessary!
Last Saturday was the first "Who's Next?" Kids Surf Tournament hosted by the Sayulita Surf Club. There were young participants and spectators enjoying the event on the beach. Congratulations to all Sayulita participants and to the winners of the event in the final open junior, Diego Mignot, final 9-13 category winner, Eno James, and final 4-8 category winner, Luke Akerman. If you were not in Sayulita last Saturday and didn't catch the event, you can click the video here to see the surf talents and highlights of the day.
Thank you for reading El Sayulero and enjoy the below articles.

2013 Brings Cooler Temperatures to Sayulita
|
By Nicki Cooper
After a considerably warmer December, Sayulita has dropped 10 degrees since last Sunday which recorded 84 F to yesterday's high of 74 F. Being perfect weather for those acclimated to northern climates, this change has put a chill over Sayulita locals. Walking the streets it's easy to see who is on vacation versus who spends the year here by noticing swim suits and sandals or jeans and sweaters! Read more

The Chipper Has Come to Sayulita
|
On December 20 Sayulita's brand new Chipper arrived! This is a milestone for Sayulita. It will enable all of us to stop burning branches and brush and other waste-and, instead turn it all into usable, fertile mulch! Now Sayulita's new Aire Puro Campaign will be in full swing. Instead of burning, please arrange to have your debris brought to the Recycle Depot on the Punta de Mita Highway (where the chipper will be stationed) and notify Eric Steinman at 322.102.7969 . If you cannot arrange to bring it to the Recycling Center, please call Eric Steinman or Erik Luna at 322 190 1704 to coordinate/arrange for pick up. More

PAEZ Sayulita Warms Our Soles
|
By Nicki Cooper
PAEZ Sayulita shoes warm the soles of our feet and keep us walking in comfort and style. Winter has finally come to Sayulita, and the standard sandal is simply not enough with the nighttime chill. So what do you do if you didn't pack those closed toed shoes, or like so many who live here, only have various flip-flops in the closet? Take a quick walk down the right side of Revolution past the plaza, and you will find PAEZ shoe store on the left. When inside, you will be sure to find something you like amongst the widely varied patterns and styles! More
Mas

GPS: Friends of Sayulita and The New Year
|
Although I thought last week's column would be my last, I'm writing a couple of extra columns as GPS president-- all because the election got moved back two weeks to January 23. Although I am retiring this month as president of GPS after three years, I'll still have a small but official role for the upcoming year. Because most of the money that comes to GPS goes to our Paypal and credit card accounts in the U.S., two months ago we formed a U.S. non-profit entity called Friends of Sayulita to be the legal owner of this account. We have applied for 501c3 status and if we receive approval, donations will be tax deductible for U.S. citizens. More
Mas

Pet of the Week: "Cody"
|
I am Cody, an 8 week-old neutered male, who enjoys a lot to clamber and purr... My yellow eyes are always on alert for whatever the world has to show me, I am naturally curious about my surroundings and I have no prejudices concerning other species, even large dogs. I love to be petted; I guarantee I will greet you everyday when you arrive home with a tall standing tail and a sweet vocalization, begging for caresses. My current foster home is spoiling me with Classical music. I love the works of Alfred Schnittke, specially the Stille Nacht suite since it sets me into a contemplative state. I don't know aggression in any of its forms; even though I have been kindly slapped in the face by another senior (13 year-old) male cat, I only reacted with curiosity: after all, I believe that it really works for me to see no evil, hear no evil, and say no evil. Let me know if you think we are one for the other!
