Greetings to our 8,753 subscribers, This past week in Sayulita visitors and residents were probably woken up in the early morning by the loud sounds of cannons. These cannons sound every year leading up to Guadalupe Day on December 12th. The booms can be heard all over town as the catholic church sets off the firecrackers starting at 5am so town folk can wake up and head to mass at 6am. In celebration of the Guadalupe Day festivities leading up to the 12th the "perignaciones", small parades representing Lady Guadalupe on floats followed by local residents in costume and prayer have been passing through the downtown area of Sayulita from the 4th of December. Each local neighborhood has been marching through town with bands playing and even dancing in the streets. If you are in the plaza during the evenings this week, you may also get caught in a rain of fireworks as the "Toro de Cohetes", a man with a bull shaped head gear setting off fireworks runs through the plaza. Most children and even adults scream with excitement and delight but if it's your first time seeing this festive tradition, you may get quite a shock as the fireworks sound off. For more information on the local parades through town this week and the Guadalupe Day celebrations read the below article in this week's El Sayulero. Thank you for reading El Sayulero. Saludos a nuestros 8,753 lectores

Question of the Week: What do you like to buy on the beach?
|
By Nicki Cooper
"The thing I loved the most was Anna's sarongs. It was her energy on the beach. The way she danced and laughed, and her hat with the feathers in it. I also like buying the little dolls off the children!"

Cannons Sound in Preparation for Guadalupe Day, December 12th
|
By Nicki Cooper
I distinctly remember my first December living in Sayulita, curled up in bed, deep in sleep, when BOOM! I sat upright, pulled the blankets around me, and pondered what war was escalating outside my window. The next day, thinking I had a unique morning, I found that everyone was celebrating the sound that sent me into panic. It is the cannon fire for the honoring of the patron saint of Mexico, our Lady of Guadalupe. Read more

A Day on the Beach in Sayulita
|
By Nicki Cooper
Sayulita has so much to offer, but it is truly the beach itself that has captured local residents and keeps the tourist coming. It's true there are great waves for long boarding, gentle swimming, warm water, and blazing sun. You will get a stunning tan or lobster skin and have a day of fun and rest, but what else are you getting. Well really nearly anything you may need or want. After spending one afternoon on the beach everyone will see that there is little you have to bring other than your wallet. More
Mas

|
Alegria is a beautiful, medium sized 1.5 year old female. She was found badly beaten. A neighbor couldn't stand seeing her abused anymore so they took her. I love palm trees. Just looking at them relaxes me. Probably because I'm usually floating in a pool or lying on the beach when I'm looking at them. Anyhow, I always photograph them and here are a few of my favs. More Photos
