Greetings to our 8,701 subscribers,

It's been a busy week in Sayulita as the town celebrated two important holidays, the first being Mexican Revolution day on Tuesday, November 20th. This is a highly anticipated Mexican Holiday and perhaps more notable than Independence Day. On Tuesday morning Sayulita held its traditional Revolution Day parade through town lead by town delegate, Hector Pina. Many of the local children participated in the parade around the plaza dressed in 19th century costumes as some of the kids even re-inacted the war with cannons and firecrackers.

Yesterday was U.S. Thanksgiving and whether you are American, Canadian or a Mexican national, it seems to be an important time of year in Sayulita when friends and family get to together to celebrate, give thanks for living in our beautiful town and enjoy a traditional turkey dinner. Whether you were here in Sayulita to enjoy the day or afar I hope all our readers who celebrated had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

November 22nd was also national "Music Day" and to celebrate, there was a stage, lighting and giant speakers set up in the plaza last night with bands playing and folks dancing along. Banda Sayulita finished off the evening's show and despite a quick power outage that lasted a short while the band kept on playing without the heavy-duty speakers. It was an evening enjoyed by everyone who was in the plaza either spectating or dancing off Thanksgiving dinner.

Thank you for reading El Sayulero.

=========================================

Saludos a nuestros 8,701 lectores

Question of the Week: How Do You Celebrate
U.S. Thanksgiving in Sayulita?

By Nicki Cooper

I soaked all my pineapple in tequila and invited all of my American friends over for roasted chicken because my oven is really small, and that is because I live in Sayulita.

Revolucion Mexicana Skateboard Contest

 By Nicki Cooper

On November 16th, last Friday, a skateboard competition was held at the secondary school in Sayulita. The event was just for fun due to so many students' requests. One teacher listened and organized the event being quite popular for walking around with two live Pythons wrapped across his shoulders and around his neck. His hope is to keep interest in skateboarding for the youth. It is a fun way to socialize, exercise, and be active in a sport that requires a lot of discipline.  Read more

Revolution Day Celebrations in Sayulita
Pancho Villa's Famous Call

By Nicki Cooper

Revolution Day kicked off with a bang once more as crowds lined the streets to watch the annual parade. Locals and tourists alike held cameras ready and followed the procession from Calle Miramar up through town and around the plaza. Flags flew and the national colors green, red, and white were adorned with pride as everyone screamed, Viva Mexico!  More

GPS: Town Details

GPS

Last week I talked about our priorities, but I don't want to leave out the scores of smaller programs that GPS funds (soon to be Amigos de Sayulita). For example, Sayulitanimals has done an incredible job with their spay and neuter programs, and GPS pays their rent.  That's all they ask of us, but it's a large expense to them.   I can't say enough about how good they are.  It was only a few years ago when the town seemed to be overrun with loose dogs and cats.  More

Mas

Sayulita Neighborhoods

"Hey Lupe," I holler out the window, "stop watering the plants so I can finish my shower!" One of the drawbacks of living in a Mexican apartment building, but it could be worse. My neighbor only gets a trickle of water as he's the farthest from the tinako and has to shower with a bucket. He's been living here for over a year. More

Mas
