Level Indication for Stringy Fibrous Materials

 

The stainless steel triangular arc single vane paddle assembly helps to provide dependable level sensing for long, stringy fibrous materials when the level switch is vertically mounted. The design of this paddle minimizes entanglement with the target material. Examples of application materials that are best suited for the triangular arc paddle include shredded newspaper, Cypress bark, reclaimed rubber, etc.  The triangular arc paddle works with Monitor Technologies' SafePoint� fail-safe and Model KA & KAX rotary paddle bin level switches.

Does the SiloPatrol� SMU require calibration?

The RS-485 version of the SMU does not need calibration in the traditional sense; measurements are made by mechanical components and discrete electronics. No electrical "drift" phenomena is applicable here. Calibration "zero" is determined by the physical location of the level monitoring instrument and "span" is determined by the length of cable assembled into the unit. Verification of proper operation can be accomplished by the comparison of distance measurements.

The analog version of the SMU does have some calibration considerations. Please view page 9 of the #344A Installation Manual for more details.
