March Communicat

The electronic version of the March Communicat is now available. Click here for this month's edition. You may read, save, and/or print at your convenience. The paper edition will be mailed out shortly. 

The Communicat is available on the WHS PTSA website and all families that have an email on file with the school will receive a link to the most current edition as soon as it is published. Families who have not opted out from paper communications will receive the Communicat by U.S. Mail as well.

March into College for the Class of 2018march

This workshop series is designed for juniors and parents. Each night focuses on one aspect of the college process.  The March Into College series is in its ninth year, and it's been so successful because it truly prepares students for all of the upcoming application work and gives them the smart early start that keeps the stress level low.  College is the adventure of a lifetime., and it begins now!

Woodside Photography at the Redwood City Public Library

In a collaboration with the Sequoia Art Group (a local group of professional and amateur artists), Woodside High School is honored to have Photography student work showcased at the downtown Redwood City Public Library. Both digital photography 1 & 2 students are represented.  The work will be on display until the end of March.



Yearbook

The deadline to order your yearbook is MARCH 24. The 2017 WHS yearbook is $80 with PAL and $90 without. Orders can be placed in D-5 or online at www.jostensyearbooks.com. Please note that online purchases will be $90.
Last year the school sold out of yearbooks. Over 70% of the yearbooks have already been sold. To guarantee that you get one, please make sure to order it NOW. After March 24th, any remaining yearbooks will be sold for $100. 

Prom

WHS Junior/Senior Prom will be on Saturday April 22 8pm-11:30pm (doors close at 9:00pm) at the Galleria building in San Francisco.

All ticket sales take place in D7 during lunch and after school. Tickets are never sold at the event. In order to purchase a ticket the student must be either a junior or senior (underclassmen can attend as a guest of an upperclassman), off the No Privileges list, and have no fines. 

Tickets will be sold from March 27-April 7. Tickets will NOT be sold after April 7.
March 27-30                       $70 with PAL, $80 without*
April 3-7                               $80 with PAL, $90 without*

*All non-WHS guests will pay the without PAL price.

Students can pay with cash, money orders, or credit cards. Checks are NOT accepted. Please note that there will be a processing fee of $2.50 for credit cards.

PTSAParent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) News

PTSA Board Vacant Positions for 2017-2018 

The Woodside PTSA Board has open positions in the fall. We have a number of positions which are terming out and parents who have kids who are graduating. We are looking for parents to fill the following positions:

Apples for Teachers 
The PTSA Grant Coordinator works during a set period each year to approve mini-grants to teachers and counselors. 

Communications 
The PTSA Communications coordinator is responsible for all online content: PTSA website, coordinating information for the weekly school email and for bi-monthy Communicat and maintaining all web hosting, domain name, social media & email accounts.  

Historian 
The PTSA Historian collects the volunteer hours for PTSA meetings and events. Prepares an annual Historian report. 

Membership Chair 
Implements annual membership campaign, collects dues and maintains a list of members (more work in Fall.) 

Parliamentarian  
The PTSA Parliamentarian assists with parliamentary procedure at all meetings. Gives instruction about nominating committee. Reviews bylaws annually.  

President 
The PTSA President is the presiding officer and main point of contact for the association. S/he works towards goals set by members, establishing annual budget and calendar. 

Secretary 
The PTSA Secretary keeps an accurate and concise record of all the proceedings of all meetings. S/he submits copies of previous meeting minutes for review at next meeting.  

Treasurer 
The PTSA Treasurer keeps records and prepares reports to comply with local, state and federal laws. S/he pays by check all bills authorized by association/board. Submits a report at each meeting which includes balances, receipts, and disbursements against the budgets.  

Vice President 
The PTSA Vice President serves in the absence of the president. S/he serves as program chair liaison for Parent Education and Unsung Heroes programs.

Class of 2017

ADVANCE tickets on sale for Grad Night 2017!

Now is the time to purchase advance tickets for Grad Night 2017 before the other "to-do's" for graduation coming rolling in. Tickets are currently $75 and will increase in the coming months. You can purchase tickets with check or cash via mail or drop off.
 
Grad Night, also known as Safe & Sober Grad Night, is a Woodside High School tradition for all graduating seniors. This all-night party is a once-in-a-lifetime experience where seniors get to celebrate with their class one last time.
 
Woodside's Grad Night Party will be held on Friday, June 9th, 2017. We have a great venue, and hours of entertainment planned throughout the evening.  G

Financial assistance is always available with the purchase of tickets. Please have your student visit the counseling office for more information and to purchase tickets.

Class of 2019

The Class of 2019 will be hosting a Paint Nite fundraiser.  There are only 44 seats so register early!

Details:

Date:  May 4, 2017 - come celebrate Cinco de Mayo early!
Time:  6:30pm (but come early and have a drink with fellow parents)

Drama Boosters NewsABO
 
It's finally here, and tickets are selling fast for the Spring Musical "Anything Goes" in the Woodside High School PAC! 

If you'd like to see our talented students singing & dancing & having a ball in this 1930's classic madcap musical comedy, surrounded by our first rate sets and backdrops, get your tickets fast, either online at www.whsdramaboosters.org or by calling the Box Office @ (650) 367-9750 (x43706). 

Show dates are March 10, 11, 17, 18 @8pm, with a 2pm matinee on March 12th. Don't miss it! Come early because you're going to want to come a second time. 

Your student can also purchase tickets during lunch in D7. 

Athletic Booster Organization (ABO) NewsABO
 

Saturday, March 18 on the Woodside Football Field, the ABO will be holding their 2nd Annual Julian Edelman Hit-a-thon and Home Run Derby to benefit all sports at Woodside High School!  All athletes and student leadership is invited to participate!  

In 2016 the ABO raised over $10,000 to benefit all sports programs at WHS!  We're hoping to blow that number away!

Sequoia Union High School District News

The SUHSD Middle College program at Ca�ada College is accepting applications for fall 2017 semester.

Middle College is collaboration between SUHSD and Canada through this unique program student's earn both high school and college credits; enabling them to complete their high school degrees and earn college credit simultaneously. All classes are held at Ca�ada College.

Middle College is looking for juniors for the fall semester. Interested students should reach out to their counselor, find information by looking up Ca�ada Middle College and attend our Parent / Student information nights in January, February, and March.  All applications must be submitted by March 17th.

SamTrans Conducts Online Customer Survey

Beginning today, riders can go to www.samtrans.com/customerexperience to complete the online survey, which will be open and available to the public until March 19.  Let SamTrans know what you think. The questionnaire should about 10 minutes and at the end of the survey, participants will have the opportunity to be entered in a drawing to win one of five SamTrans Monthly passes.
