UPCOMING
Principal's Unity Message

Inauguration Day Campus Plans provided for activities that 1) protected class time and 2) protected student rights and 3) promoted the use of nonviolent language and nonviolent actions:

  • Specific classrooms were open for supervised inauguration viewing during break and lunch if students wanted to tune in.
  • Kindness-messaged lollipops in the morning, distributed to 3rd period classes to remind all of us of kindness:
"We are WOODSIDE."
"We don't have to agree on anything to be kind to one another." - Anonymous
"Kindness is a language the blind can see and the deaf can hear." - Mark Twain
  • Unity Mosaic unveiling at lunch: in a peer-to-peer led school-wide activity last week, students wrote one, two, or three colorful slips of paper completing I am...We are...I will.  Our WHS Safe School Ambassadors collected them and have created a giant mosaic that is multi-colored and representative of campus diversity. Click here to see a video about the Woodside High School Unity Mosaic.
Woodside will move forward without violent language and without violent actions.  Students don't have to agree, but we do have to welcome all voices on a safe campus. Student absences were and will be recorded per our attendance policy.

Herff Jones will be on campus January 25 and 26 during lunch to take the final orders for graduation announcements. Announcements must be ordered by January 31. Seniors also need to make sure to submit their information for graduation gowns. Students can turn in the green and white order cards or go to the link http://bit.ly/WHS2017 to fill out a form.

PSAT Night

PSAT night is Wednesday, January 25 in the Woodside MUR @ 7:00pm. The focus of the night is to learn how to use PSAT scores to earn an even higher SAT score. The paper score reports will be available. The presentation is by Princeton Review.

CSF Applications (Jan 1/23-2/3)

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) promotes and recognizes students with above-average grades. To become a lifetime member, a student must submit an application and meet the eligibility requirements for four semesters or more. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes membership requirements. Benefits for lifetime members include recognition at WHS Senior Awards Night and in the WHS Graduation program.

Applications and course lists are available in the College&Career Center (D9) or on the WHS website here. Students must submit their application forms for the first semester of 2016-17 to D9 by Friday, February 3. The submitted application packet must include:
  • Completed CSF application
  • Copy of the previous semester's report card or transcript.
Contact Zorina Matavulj at zmatavulj@seq.org with questions.

Advanced Placement Exams at WHS

Now is the time of year when we prepare to order the Advanced Placement Exams for students in AP classes. The testing will be at Woodside High School in the first two weeks of May.

Use the following link to sign up for AP Exams: http://bit.ly/APregistration2017

The AP students and their teachers have been working hard since school began to prepare for these tests and will continue to work and review with the expectation that all students will take the tests. The teachers will be expecting all students to review, study, practice, and prepare, and many teachers give practice AP exams that count substantially toward all students' semester grades (including those who will not be sitting for the official exams).

The cost for each AP exam is $98.
Reduced fees are automatically available for students who have qualified for free or reduced lunch. We also hope to provide some financial assistance for other students who need it. Please contact Susan Garcia (367-9750. Ext. 40050) for questions about fee reductions and payment.
In order to meet the ordering deadlines, all AP students must make payment arrangements by Monday, February 27, 2017. Payments are made in the Treasurer's Office OR by credit card using Infinite Campus.

Students who do not sign up and make payment arrangements for AP tests will not get the opportunity to take the tests. No extra tests will be ordered.

We are also willing to order and administer Advanced Placement tests to students who are not enrolled in the corresponding courses (including AP exams for courses that we do not offer).

Drama Boosters NewsABO

The cast and crew (affectionately known as "The Company") are all working hard to bring you the exceptional production you have come to expect from the Woodside High School Drama department. We look forward to bringing you two weekends of theater entertainment as we hop on the USS America for Cole Porter's "Anything Goes". Rehearsals are in full swing, sets are being built and painted, costumes designed, and concessions collected to serve to you during intermission.

Mark you calendars for March 10, 11, 12, 17, & 18. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00pm and Sunday's performance is a matinee at 2:00pm. Come early because I know you will want to see it at least a second time. Don't wait. Tickets will be available online soon. I'll send a link in this space once that option is up and running. We can't wait to see you on the high seas when we put on "Anything Goes" in the PAC on campus.
