Call for Volunteers - Share information about your career in just 1 or 2 hours
The Academy Programs are small learning communities at Woodside High School; one focuses on green or environmental careers, the other on business and technology.
As part of our unique approach to reaching students, we are holding two symposiums in which we invite professionals to campus to bring students cutting edge information on the technology and career paths available. We will start the day with a keynote speaker and then have divided the mornings into 2 sessions: Session 1 (9:45-10:35 am): Career Round Tables Session 2 (11:00-11:50 am): Hot Topics Session 1 (10:40 - 11:25 am): Career Round tables
Session 2 (11:25-12:05 pm): New Technologies and/or emerging markets

Season of Sharing
Seasons of Sharing is a Woodside High School giving tradition that was organized this year by Student Support Coordinator Sara Grace Vann and the student club I Am Second. Funding provided by private parent donors, student body funds, and a club fundraiser. Sara Grace reports that 24 students/families were referred by you and have received a gift bin: holiday cookies, hot chocolate, trail mix, peanut butter, jam, dried fruit, and $25 gift cards to Safeway and Target. In all, 30 bins were filled so that we have extras to meet needs. BOSA also has a student assistance account that makes school supplies available, so Sara Grace will supplement with those items as students need.
Canned Food Drive and Second Harvest Food Bank
Students collected and donated over 2000 pounds (a ton!) of canned goods to Second Harvest Food Bank last week. Thanks to the Leadership Program for organizing! Congratulations to math teacher Josh Rubin's 4th period Geometry class who collected 240 cans and earned burgers for lunch.
Before Thanksgiving break, PE students participated in a turkey trot running sponsored laps around the track to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. In all, the PE classes raised $580! Congratulations to frosh Jennifer Thipphawong (30 laps) and Erick Inzunza (35 laps) for being our top trotters!
Red Cross Blood Drive
Student organizer junior Cella Hussussian reports that last week's fall blood drive was short-staffed by the American Red Cross so only 14 pints of blood were contributed although we had 27 student donors complete the health histories. Thanks to Cella and to BOSA for supporting these first-time givers.

Drama Booster Club
We're in the "in-between" times; auditions are over, the cast has been set, and we're all chomping at the bit to start rehearsing. BUT finals are here and the Winter Break follows. So, study hard, test well, and enjoy the break. We'll see you at the Cast and Parent meeting on January 12 at 7:00pm in the PAC. This is a mandatory meeting for all involved in the Spring Musical. There is lots of important information disseminated at this meeting, some verbal, a lot in writing. Please be sure to be present so you get all your questions answered and you are fully prepared for the process of putting on a top-notch show! We'll see you there!
