From the Principal
Dear Woodside Students, Staff, Parents and Community:
Wildcats are enjoying the new orange bleachers, fencing, entry gate, and rubberized track at Bradley Field. The new benches and tables haven't arrived, yet, but they'll be here soon for teams to hold meetings and fans to enjoy. We want to protect our investment in the new track surface for our cross-country and track athletes and our PE classes. Vehicles harm a rubber track with their weight, their tires, and their engine dripping, so Homecoming floats can't be driven on the new track.
WHS administration has worked with BOSA to determine a solution to eliminating this Homecoming tradition. BOSA has proposed and admin has approved replacing floats with a "Class Run." Each class will run on the track behind a decorated banner to be carried by the students at the front of their class run. The blank canvas banners will be provided to the classes by BOSA to ensure uniformity prior to decorating. Music selected by each class will be played from the sound booth of the football field. The run will actually be a comfortable jog speed, and students must wear flat athletic soled shoes. There will be no floats, but BOSA and admin are pleased to arrive at a solution that is more inclusive and will involve more students than float building. And protect our investment in the track.
We are looking forward to hosting The Kings Academy for the JV and varsity homecoming game on Friday, October 14.
Go WILDCATS!

Robotics - Team 100
Come Cheer the WildHats' Robot at CalGames
Fremont High School, Sunnyvale
Saturday, October 8th
8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Watch robots cross moats, negotiate drawbridges, conquer rough terrain, and bring down enemy towers!
Admire 100+ lb robots, built by student teams, speeding at 15 fps in a nail-biting contest. The STRONGHOLD game combines autonomous and human-run sections as robots compete to overcome medieval defenses and fire 'cannonballs' to defeat the opposing team's tower. They stall, they crash, they have even turned upside down!
Our very own Team 100 Robotics Team (a.k.a. The Wildhats) will enter its 2016 robot, BALLista. You'll easily spot team members and the "dancing hat" mascot in the characteristic bright orange shirts and orange Dr. Seuss hats. Find a WildHat and ask for a tour of the 'pit' where robots are readied and repaired. Collect team pins and meet some of the 36 local high school teams. Ask questions about those crazy robot names, alliance strategies, and why the electronics board had to be rebuilt 8 times (or was it 9?). See a photo of Team 100's robot here: BALLista 2016.
Team 100
Woodside is the home to three FIRST Robotics teams, of which Team 100 builds the largest robot. FIRST Robotics provides a fascinating real-world engineering experience for students and opens the door to education and careers in science, technology, and engineering. Students learn mechanics, electronics, fabrication, teamwork, animation, programming, web-site design, and recovering from failures. All high school students are welcome. We meet Thursday evenings in room H-8 at 7:00 p.m. and have work sessions on Saturdays 9a.m.-3p.m. Woodside's FTC teams 4799 and 4800 field table-top robots and these teams have afternoon meetings and work sessions.
For more information on the CalGames 2016 event and the WRRF, go to seewww.wrrf.org .
Come and cheer us on!
