From the Principal:
To Freshmen Families:
In October on College Day, freshmen established their Naviance accounts that they will use to navigate college and major exploration, college applications, and letters of recommendation.
We are continuing that college focus this spring, and, over the next three weeks, freshmen will have the opportunity to go on a field trip on a guided campus tour of either Menlo College, Stanford, San Francisco State, or San Jose State with their PE class. In order to get guided campus tours, not all PE classes are going to the same college campus on the same day. The field trip permission slips (two different pages) will indicate what day, what periods, and what college campus your student will visit. Your student's PE teacher will distribute and collect the permission slips and chaperone (additional school staff will also chaperone) the college campus visit.
Students will be provided a reflection sheet to guide their experience on the campus tour and to guide their thinking about college, too. PE teachers will collect that reflection sheet and encourage discussion as these 14 and 15-year-olds begin to "see" themselves as 18-19-year-olds on a college campus.
These College Day field trips are made possible through a WHS Foundation donor!
Parents Needed for AP Pre-Exam Forms Assistance April 1212:45-1:45pm
Mrs. Stephanie Finander, AP Exam Coordinator for Woodside High School and AP Physics teacher, has asked for parent assistance to ensure that students correctly complete the pre-exam administrative forms. Filling out these forms accurately is extremely important. It can literally make the difference between the student receiving a score and not receiving a score.
This is not a test taking session. 12:45-1:15 Mrs. Finander will train parents on how to help students 1:15-1:45 Students will come to the PAC, hear a short explanation of what to do. Parents will then circulate throughout the PAC answering questions and checking the forms. Woodside is very proud of the achievement of all our AP students and the increased number of students challenging themselves with AP courses. Thanks in advance for supporting Woodside's academic mission in this way.

SPORT NEWS
Cheer Team at Nationals
Woodside High School flew down to the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday 3/17. Late Friday night they competed against 23 other teams in their division and placed 9th. There were over 11,000 cheerleaders and 350 teams total competing that weekend. The girls did team bonding at Disneyland, had a team dinner at Rainforest Cafe, and brought a trophy home.
Jillienne Aguilera is the San Mateo Daily Journal Girls' Soccer Player of the Year
"Woodside girls' soccer coach Jose Navarrete was familiar with Jillienne Aguilera before she entered high school, having spent a couple months filling in as her club coach. But not even he could have predicted the success Aguilera would have at the high school level. It was a level not seen before - and it may be a long time before we see it again.
"I don't think we'll ever see anything like her at Woodside High School again," Navarrete said. "We were fortunate to have her."
It would have been easy for Aguilera to rest on her laurels during her senior year. After all, she scored 28 goals her junior year and led Woodside to a third straight Bay Division title.
But with blinding speed, a blistering shot and added footwork, Aguilera put together a senior year for the ages, building her game all four years until she got to a point this season where she was virtually unstoppable.
No, there would be no resting for Aguilera this year. She opened the season with a pair of goals and didn't stop until Woodside won a PAL and CCS title behind her 39 goals.
So, for the second time in three years, Aguilera is the San Mateo Daily Journal Girls' Soccer Player of the Year."
